My magic box doesn't tell me the gross weight of the truck I'm behind. Do you have one of those boxes? That's why I stay at a safe distance, watch his speed climbing and descending hills, etc andvthen EVENTUALLY decide where to pass him.

If it's no big deal for me and my fleet truck to just never pass anyone if we are only a little faster, shouldn't the cowboys stay calm and relaxed while one of us fleet trucks is holding you up going a little slower than you would like for a little while? Maybe you could just take an extra coffee break. Besides you can make up for the delay with your triple digit truck.

The whole idea behind cruise control was to give your leg and foot a rest and not have to have the foot on pedal. If you still gotta mash the pedal to make things work with it engaged than it ain’t cruise control. It’s people control. Whats the point? This is getting dumber by the post. This really is bizzaro world. First they scrap the clutch pedals. Than they make auto trans were you leave it in D and still use a clutch pedal than they make cruise control that still requires you to use a foot on the pedal mashed to the floor.

I've had dispatcher pushback for driving just like you suggest instead of keeping the pedal mashed which boosts my average speed about 1-2 mph for the day. Some of these suggestions by drivers with no goverened speed, or no dispatcher, or only available when driving out West sound as practical as when a dispatcher tells you parking near NYC is available if you plan your trip better. They, or the customer, set the appointment times and neither of those people ever asked my opinion about any of this. I have no trouble revising appointments but if some fleet truck wasn't holding one of you up the 30 cars that never vacate the left lane would be anyway.

Calm down you might boost your BP. My perfect record, my 3 million miles says I'm not a danger to society. I'll be happy to dismiss whatever problems you may have and then nobody has a problem.

So ask them if the letters FO mean anything to them. Send them a picture of your bare ###, or the other side. Don't sit in the left lane and make yourself an obstacle and hazard.

Ok, I'll just let the cruise do whatever it does the next time I pass a Schneider or JB Hunt and give my foot a rest. I'm sure the perfectly planned trucks behind will understand. Besides they should have planned better.

Since you don’t see a lot of real truck driving when you look out your windshield anymore l’ve gotta dream. I wish that when the driverless trucks finally do come out that they make the windshield a big screen tv and the dash a dj style mixing board so we can sit back with some great tunes and watch re-runs of Convoy, Smokey and the Bandit, Movin’ On, Bj and the Bear, all the other great....well you know real truck driving.

I should get fired because some other truck driver wants to go faster? Relax, it's just a few mph, and only a little bit of time. I'm assured your schedule has lots of extra time.

You've never had anyone speed up after you started a pass. You've never driven anywhere where you didn't have every hill & descent memorized? You've never moved over for a merging truck only to have him exactly match your speed and then have cars 8 inches behind both truck and no space behind the Racing Merger? I do more than 90% of anyone here to not get in that situation but sometimes that's how the cookie crumbles.

The cruise will work in economy mode but it works better for tight schedules if you also signal it into max power mode with a pedal press. I guess I could deceive the fleet truck behind me by cruising 1-3 mph slower until they get beside me and the cruise decides to accelerate up to my set speed.

Dispatch tells you to drive tired you gonna do it?
That couple mph drops me below the torque band, drop a gear and I'm running 1800 rpm or slowing 10 mph. You speed up while im passing youll end upbehind d me any way.If somebody tries matching my speed merging I'll wind it up and go around them.
