Yep, your doctor will issue a medical card. If you dont have a doctor, Wanda will direct you to an employment clinic on White Bridge road that does them while you wait. They usually wait to do the drug screen till a few days before the class. Make sure you get a print out of your driving record when you take the tests for your permit, as they will need a very current one, once they accept your application. Here is the link : http://www.ttcnashville.edu/application-enrollment

All the programs use the same application, make sure its complete or it will just stall till they have everything they need. I will try to send you a PM, providing I have enough posts now.......been posting all over the board to get the number up there.:biggrin_2551:

P.S. You will take 3 tests to get your permit at any DMV office that does testing, Combo Vehicle, Air Brakes, and General Knowledge

if your traveling on a turnpike or toll road most of them have a rest area within 30 to 45 miles of each other.. usually they give you the distance of the next rest area before you get to the one your about to past.... like these guys says it could be 50 or 60 miles in between facilities... the worst stretch of road way that comes to mind is I-64 from I-81 to I-77, there's two very small fuel stops, and i mean very!!! but again majority of the time theres some type of truck friendly place every 20 to 30 miles...

Not out west there isn't. In some states, you will just have to use an off or on ramp. We just don't have the facilities out here that you do back there.

Arizona has closed a bunch of their rest areas. Some of them many years ago. New Mexico and Nevada have "rest areas" but most of them have no facilities.

Great thanks a lot Nashville Driver! One really good thing about all of this is that I have a lot of hobbies, and every single time I have good feeling about something and cannot stop thinking about it, it usually happens and I usually like it. When I try to force myself to like something, have doubts, or hope for the best and try to tolerate something, that is usually when it doesn't happen. I can see myself in a truck being happy with the windows rolled down and my favorite songs playing.

In fact one thing I forgot to mention is that when I was younger my dad would always "take me for a ride". We would just ride around the city for fun to learn how to get to new places and take shortcuts (this was before Google maps and such).

Now that I am older I still like to ride around and discover new areas just for fun. Especially late at night, and the police sometimes pull me over and ask what I am doing out so late and I just tell them I am relaxing and they always find it so hard to believe lol.

hmm, Hey Nashville I hope there isn't more to this test than I realize... Wanda told me to study chapters 2, 3, 5 and 6 of the commercial driving manual. I assume these are the sections here:

    http://www.tn.gov/safety/dlhandbook/cdlmenu.shtml

I began printing out these chapters and it looks like nearly 100 pages of small text to study? The stack I printed out looks larger than my girlfriend's medical field college book. I'll be bankrupt by the time I finish reading this.

NewNash you want some info PM me your phone number. I am off today.

I graduated Dec. 2009 from TN Tech.

I go in and speak there and answer real world questions from my experiences. I am currently pulling fuel locally for Eagle. We are right there off Centennial.

Mr. Warren, and Mr. Bentley are great. Wanda is good people too.

They don't do a drug screen at the school. You do it when you get your DOT physical at the Urgent care clinic.

It isn't an "employment clinic." Wanda may tell you that you take a drug test at the end of the class. You don't. Your future employer will.

The WIA paid for my training. Even paid for gas to and from school. (sort of) They will pay for your endorsements too.

Ok Rug Trucker here is what it says on their website:

Concentra is focused on improving America's health, one patient at a time. We serve workers and families with occupational medicine & urgent care.

I should have said occupational medicine and not employment clinic..... is that better??? Geeeez! and its you day off???

Once, driving I-90 in Montana, 3 rest areas in a row were closed:biggrin_2554:. I was really starting to hate that state....
