Thanks Rug TruckerWanda told me to print them out and study so I hit the print key without realizing there would be so many pages. They are all printed out now and luckily I have a high end color laser printer so the printouts are very crisp like a book. I have them all stored in a binder now so I am studying now. Luckily it looks like most of the stuff I already know so it shouldn't take me too long to learn it.
Are truck stops / rest areas evenly spaced out?

Read the chapters and do the test questions. The instructors have some test questions for extra endorsements like tank, doubles, and hazmat.
There is also practice stuff on the net.
Have you checked into the WIA funding? Contact your local Workforce essentials people. They test you for literacy, math, etc. Then they can help get it paid for. Or the lotto money will do $600 of it or so. -
NewNashGuy,
If and when you get trucking you'll want to plan your trips well and peruse the truck stop directory for truck stops and rest areas along your route and make some notes.
After a while you'll get to know which states and which routes have an abundance or scarcity of safe havens.
As a generalized summary I'd say midwestern states like OH,IN,IL,MI,WI you have a fair amount of truck stops along interstates. In the New England states truck stops are pretty few and far between and many of the travel plazas don't have adequate parking for trucks. FL is pretty bad for truckstops as I once went 100 miles straight without seeing any truck stops and I think there was only one rest area in that stretch.
If you ever take I-40 out to CA stock up on food, supplies and fuel at the Petro in Kingman, AZ there's pretty much nothing from Kingman, AZ to Barstow, CA except steep mountains and 113 degree temps. -
