Actually, it is part of the Schneider National family... There's only about 20-25 of these guys running around. They're normally on dedicated accounts.

What about apprenticeship programs run by the building trades and operating engineers. Your saying those people have no skill or ability. When times are good there may be deadbeats working, not today. The contractors will not put up with it. There are lazy people everywhere not just in the trade unions.

    really??

I work for Schneider and never heard of them, and Schneider is a VERY anti-union company.

I will have to take your word for it, I went to the website and can't find any affiliation with SNI there.

The problem with the apprenticeship programs is that they are TIME based, not SKILL based. They assume that if you put in the required time, that you'll come out knowing what you're doing. AND they assume that UNLESS you put in the required time, you DON'T know what you're doing. Neither is true. Some people can walk into a profession and within 6 months they are better and more knowledgeable than someone that's been doing the job for 5 years. The programs and unions don't recognize this. Oh, and that 5 year guy? Yeah, he gets the jobs before the 6 month guy because he has seniority.

And you're right, there are lazy people everywhere - the only problem is that the unions make sure that if they have seniority, they always have work if they decide they want it.

They were there before you guys. They started your division,i want to say right around deregulation. Probably the early 80's. Not exactly sure about that. I am sure the union division has been around a long time. They don't want you guys to know about the other division in my opinion because they probably have much better benefits at no cost to the driver. Corporate Greed in my opinion.

Back when I drove for them in the 90's they had their own room at the Green Bay pumpkin patch.

Here's a photo of an old transport truck from Hanks Truck Pictures.

The squared "s" on the air dam is what your looking for. You'll see that logo on the side of the few transport trucks that are left....

Me too I'm a union member and don't get it either I know what you company drivers and owner operators make I see the magazines at the truckstops. Why wouldn't you want to be better compensated for the hard work you do out there every day. The benefits alone are worth the fight.

In my area apprentices work until their time is up and not many of the contractors run seniority lists. You either produce or you are gone. I'm talking construction. People like Yellow,ABF,Holland are seniority based.
