2 drivers with my company claim to have been inspected at the I 70 scales east of Kansas City and that the scale master took their logbook and got on a computer claiming to verify where they were when, neither of them apparently conflicted with what the computer said.
Does anyone know what kind of system they're using to keep track of us....if they really are. The best I could come up with is that there is a camera based license plate reading system set up.
To me this smells like tin foil hat theory.
Are we being watched? DOT verifying logbooks by computer

If you got a prepass, it will log you in almost everytime you past a scale. Even if it wasn't open. Especially the Weigh In Motion ones.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
and if they are open. it's usually by your license plate they punch in.
the only 2 times my logs were inspected by the scales. they were just simply checked. and mine are on laptop. i don't have prepass. -
And I would not be surprised if this ties in with ezpass also.

plus they contact your fuel stops and request the times using your truck number
-
From 2 calls to Pre pass the scale crossing information only stay in "their" system for about 20 minutes then is dumped, that's not to say that the scales don't have a program that saves the Pre pass info that they get.

don't know what all states maintain the information. but i know with oregon. i would turn my logs in after 2 weeks. and my company knew EXACTLY when i rolled through the scales. and sometimes they didn't match my logs.
i racked up a few company violations from oregon scales.
