Serious. Broke down now in NC. Started puking coolant, ran it this morning for about 15 minutes to make coffee. 2 hrs later, it’s hydro locked. Won’t turn over, won’t turn either way by hand. Luckily I’m not under a Load. Absolutely no reason the head gasket should blow or the head should have cracked. Felpro Head gasket, DD reman head. Counterbores cut by a DD Factory engineer with 20 years experience. I watched most of the work done, including placing the head onto the block. Still it breaks down. Proof anything mechanical can break at any time. New, old, doesn’t matter. I’m tired of the uncertainty. It’s actually no longer an uncertainty. #### always breaks down!!! Lol. Had enough.

People laugh at me too because I always say “if I had to drive for someone else (don’t think it will ever happen) the only acceptable answer is a less than 2 year old truck with an apu.” Anything less I’ll keep looking. You want quality employee you better provide the best equipment.

But just me and my truck? The money I save to the bottom line goes in my pocket. If I want to take time off, I’m not a slave to my truck / bank.

I’ve learned so much here in the last few years from everyone. More than all the years prior. The work you did on your Truck was very impressive. I came here looking for information on something mechanical, and surprisingly was able to occasionally help someone simply because it had happened to me before. Natural Progression I suppose. Still surprises me. I’ve been running on luck and a prayer for a long time. No regrets. Beats wondering what if?

The strange thing is I had stopped at Pilot in Williamsburg Ky. to buy just enough fuel to get 50 miles down to Clinton Tn. where fuel was cheaper. I’ve avoided that Pilot for 15 years. Last time I stopped there, I woke up to a hydro locked engine. $23k rebuild at Freightliner in Knoxville. I’ve refused to stop there since, till last Sunday. When I got fuel in Clinton, it shut down. Popped the hood and saw the coolant had puked out the overflow tube. I didn’t realize it till last night. I had forgotten. It’s a coincidence. Hits like a ton of bricks though.

I think the same as you .. I have my own shop & tools and do everything myself
BTW.. it sure doesn't look like your truck is a junker .. I think its a sharp looking truck

    Siinman and Rideandrepair Thank this.

I have become very particular with who I work with lately. Can’t expect them all to pay up. Using Baxter Bailey data helps allot.
