Are we fixing to see a huge purge in trucking?

You know it's slow out there when there are bunch of empty spots at the Belvidere oasis and it's Monday afternoon

 

Hight fuel costs definitely don't make for good economics, which is why I never understand why governments insist on increasing interest rates to reduce inflation when the reason behind inflation is high prices of consumer goods. Or do they think that high interest rates will force retailers to reduce prices, well it has not worked at the fuel bowser that's for certain. Or perhaps it's a secret conspiracy to force more motorists to convert to electric or hydrogen powered vehicles.

 

Down in GA and TN it was in the high $3's but Midwest was Mid $4's so yep went up close to a buck in my areas the last 3 weeks.

 

California is not the only state above $5.00. Washington state is above $6.00 a gallon in a number of places. Oregon is pushing $5.00, and Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Idaho are running $5.00 or just a bit over. Been that way for a month or so now.

NASTC price in Idaho is about 4.30 to $4.40 (including tax), Oregon is $3.83 (no tax). Taxington is $4.67.

Not great, but not $5, either

 

Every night I see O/O's with multiple lights out on the truck, running on a flat. No lights or half the lights working on the trailer. Getting worse every day. I hope not, but the crash is coming. Lots of companies are/will go out of business at the end of this year and into next year. Look at the world news, bad things happening. Multiple wars. Really feel for the owner op's that are running thin on money.

 

Yep, the parts are going up in prices too. Thermo King announced these are going up again in December.
We are hardly keeping up. I have a kid in college, so it is like paying off equipment. Not the best time for all of it hitting us at the same time.
