Lolz, we are always self sufficient... till the saudis drop price or increase production (same thing) then the oil companies stop producing in the us until 6 months after foreign production is down, rinse, repeat

Why are you paying for your kids college? Surgeon, sure, just about anything else, thats unwise.

If you want to invest in their future, shoulda bought them a house

    I did the opposite.
Paid for my kids to attend a private school K-12 . So they could get a quality education instead of having to attend the worthless public government school .
And told them that were on their own for college or whatever after HS , that we’d contribute $4,500 a year for their education, since that what the private school had been costing us .

    Siinman Thanks this.

    What year?

20k downpayment at age 22 to 25 would be worth a LOT more than the recuction of any loans

I don't want them to start like me. It's my choice. I don't want them to start with loans over their heads. I never got any help. I don't want the same thing for them.
But I won't be buying their home. First I need to pay off mine.
Then maybe I will invest into something for them. But now I'm not able to.

The choice of school really depends on the program they pick. (There is hope for my younger one to get full tuition. He's at 4.33 GPA. But he doesn't want to do any volunteer work. He isn't involved in many activities after school. And many top schools look for those.)

We’ve been hearing this sky is falling since I’ve first started 16 years ago and yet, here we are….you adapt and keep trucking…pun intended.

You started out with a house?

Look at your life, and think carefully, would it be better or worse if you had even 15% of your own house paid off at age 25. What kind of trajectory could you have had if instead of making rent payments at 30% more than a house payment, you were instead getting equity in a real asset...

You live your life as you wish, but from what im seeing with my cousins, neices and nephews of college age over the past 15 years, their school loans suck but are manageable, but home ownership has been either unattainable or postponed 10 years from when my parents generation would have bought their first.

$4500 a year for private school? Wow where is this?
The quality private schools near me are in the $30,000-60,000 range lol.

Going to see a real shakeup. Noticed lately on the Spot market, low tier brokerage is having a lot more volume. It’s funny because, when you see TQL, you’re like well at least they’re probably gonna pay me. When these lowballing brokers are unable to get their lanes covered, it’s definitely going to flip the other way. You think it’s a bloodbath with truck drivers right now. I believe sometime next year it’s gonna be a bloodbath for brokers. A lot of them got no work as they got under bid and the ones under bid are gonna be sucking wind.
