You made it to tell us about it, anyway. I have seen some steep ones in orange, too, because that's all there is in and out of some of those places.
We have a private road near here going down to a river terminal, steep all the way, but 16% for a nice long drop. They haul out of there loaded, too.
Are weigh stations a waste?

That's why I said neighborhood. Neither the topo scale or the 1000 foot scale against the curvy road on Google maps have much precision. It could have been more or less. I've been up and down some marked 9%'ers on some PA backroads and they were nothing compared to this one. I'm sure it was nothing to some back country and off-road haulers. This guy doesn't do that as a matter of routine, and the equipment is not spec'd for that sort of terrain. Going through my mind the whole way up was pleasedontbreakpleasedontbreakpleasedontbreak. The actual driving was just keeping the corners out of the ditches and not missing any gears.

Let's be honest. We do have an industry full of nudniks. There are some steering wheel holders (I refuse to call them drivers) who wouldn't do right if you paid them extra. The world owes them something and they are gonna take it. The "entitlement class" of truck drivers. Most, however, know that piece of plastic in their wallet is their livelihood. Weigh stations do serve a purpose. Whether its for compliance or revenue depends on location. Collinsville, IL and Banning, CA nitpick the tiniest things, while some in Florida are a little more easy to deal with. Georgia doesn't care if you just picked up and are ready to hit a CAT scale, and to get out of the fine you have to go in the trailer and move product to conform to size/weight instead of sliding your tandems. You can slide your tandems, but you'll get the ticket. Virginia will let you correct it and be on your way.

Since that isn't published information and would rely solely on drivers' input, you'd have serious quality for information issues.gpsman Thanks this.

Don't they have real crimes in Decatur?

I rate many of them right up there with the ATF. Making criminals out of honest citizens.
