Tore it down last year a dentist from out of state bought it for investment property. First time I rolled in there Major Lewis still owned it. He was an older gentleman wore western shirts slacks and a sport coat smoked a pipe. I told the hands I thought I had a load. Major pulled his pipe out thumped it in his palm and said "Son if your running for me lets packem' in till the hides hangin out" so we did. His son sold it around the time you were coming in probably. The new owner kept it open a good while. It sure don't look the same with it gone.

No it sure looks different. I figured it was something like that what with it's location. The ground was worth a whole lot more than the sale barn was. It was one of the nicer barns around.

Lol I had one following me down 49 or 47 in south Dakota one night. He hollered at me said hey bull rack I'm coming around you, said hold off there for a minute hand got a car coming up on us when the car went by I hollered back at him said come on around there partner got a clean shot I'll back off it for ya. He replied you ain't got the legs or motor to catch this rig. Just kinda shrugged it off, backed off and let him go by. There's a 1 mile 8% grade on that highway and I knew I'd get him there. Sure enough we come rolling up to that hill and I seen the sign said #### its too bad this ain't a 4 lane because you're climbing this hill slower than a snail with two bad knees chicken truck. I was right there on his bumper hanging with him lol. Hollered up to him and said you got me flat land and on the top end, but you don't have me on the hills. We both started laughing about it. Surprisingly he said maybe my mouth is bigger than my motor. I laughed and said I know mine is driver.

That's always been my problem, mouth is bigger than my motor. The hills and flats is what got me hung on these double over 13 speeds. I can run a rear ratio that will pull, and still got my top side. Drawbacks are they only made a few of these with a boxes with a lubrication/cooling pump and the updates to give them a little more durability are expensive. Takes the gear noise out of it though. If yall need to cut thru the trees around my area to get around the coup let me know, West Memphis is the only one I can't get around short gotta go the long way around it.

Har, good one! No one would be running legal? Not even you? I think scale houses should be voluntary so people like you, who don't trust yourselves could go and get some correction, while those of us who can manage ourselves could go about our business unhassled. What about those who don't do the right thing and don't turn themselves into the scale for correction, you say? Take that up with them leave me out of it, don't project your fears onto me.

    They're a waste when they're never open.

They're a waste when they take up 4 acres but aren't open for overnight parking.

They're a waste when they're in a location too easy to bypass.

That being said, I'm glad I rarely get red-lighted. And they do weed out the truly stupid and dangerous drivers.

(seriously,,, who does a high-ball and then not only gets behind the wheel, but pulls into a scale house with no logs?)

Can someone explain exactly what a port of entry actually is?

A buddy said all trucks going into New Mexico have to go thru a port of entry. I said, are u talking about Mexico or New Mexico. He said New Mexico. Had to have extra paperwork and permits for a standard load, which his company had already prepared for him.

Not a big deal...New Mexico requires their own mileage use tax (HUTTAX) if you will.........If you are an owner-operator and dont go through NM too often, Just styop at the Point of entry, Pay for the mileage your going to run..Thats it.

If you run through often......You just have toi file a quarterly Mileage use tax with New Mexico

NewYork, Kentucky,Oregon. and make sure your business is registered with New Jersey as an out of state corporation if you plan on picking up or delivering there..Unless you are a sole-proprietor.

New Jersey has been known to impound trucks that are not registered with the dept of revenue
