Its cool to be indwpendent and have a career. Trucking isnt a job its a career. And as long as your a driver youll never be without a job. As a driver you will make so many of your own stories and experiences that you can share with your friends and they will be like, "word?" The amount of s.h.i.t. youll see on the road, ya kno. Trust me, do you like trucking? Well if there your friends they shouldnt care either way and if they are really worrying about hanging wit you because your career, then get new friends because they are not genuine. Trucking wont ever leave you broke and living with mommy.

Wrong...it would only take 24-48 hrs to bring this country to its knees,as soon as most of the soccer moms ran out of gas and gatoraide it would become an epidemic. If you don't believe me,prove me wrong if every driver out there would take the time off to vote on election day (not a absentee ballot) it will bring ths country to a grinding halt. I know it aint gonna happen but it would be nice to see, I'm not telling anyone how to vote or who to vote for,I'm just saying to take the time off to vote in person. In my opinion thats why the government is running our industry into the ground, they are regulating us to the point where we cant do our jobs properly. And they continue to get away with it because we are all too busy or too far awy to put our sayso in.Yes I relize that some of us would have to miss three or four days work to get home in time to vote but the upside to that is that is one more truck not moving freight for three or four days.Four years ago three of us did it and you would have thought the world was comming to an end. Just three and the company almost went bankrupt, almost lost eight accounts,ect...

It would seem to me that it takes special "kind of woman"/spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend to be able to have the trust and confidence in their mate to "handle" them being on the road all the time. In fact, I'm sure of it. Most women, especially young ones dont want anything to do with you if they cant control every friggin second of your life due to their insecurities and their distrust of themselves actually. They want you under their thumb and concentrated on them exclusively so you need to decide if this is a fair trade-off. I'm sure this goes for stay at home men as well...but that's why they dont want anything to do with you-trust me. I'm so happy to be at a point in my life where I'm not gonna be twisted in the wind by someone who has self esteem issues and need me to reassure them constantly. Yea, if your embarressed and you put more of a premium on what some woman thinks of how you make a living, you might want to re-##### brother !!

Here we go with another "Most women" grouping. :smt108 There are over 3 billion women in the world so unless you know at least 1.5 billion you don't know anything about "most" women. Most women you know maybe but not the majority. It works my nerves and at the same times amuses me when men say what they think they know about "most" women or even when women say what they think they know about "most" men and it's usually due to bitterness.

Anywho as far as the topic I don't think any hardworking person should be embarrassed about anything they do to make money as long as it's legal. Everyone has to start somewhere. If someone does criticize your job, it's probably because they themselves have never had to work. Be grateful for the opportunity because a job isn't so easy to come by these days. It's more embarrassing to have to dumpster dive for food because your broke. I would tell anyone who's embarrassed about my job the can walk right on out my life and i'll hold the door open for them. Maybe it's because i'm a girl but i've never came across a guy whose embarrassed about my job. Nowadays I get the :smt107 look when I say what I do. I've had boyfriends who drove and i've never been embarrassed to be with a driver or any guy that's hardworking and treats me right.:walk:

I'm embarrassed when i go to walmart to cash a $1600 check . When the lady in front me cashes a $4200 check surrounded by 4 dirty kids and the mother looks like a crackhead.

Ask myself why do i work :biggrin_25516:

I'm embarrassed to say i just read this entire thread to this point in one sitting, but I am not embarrassed to say I am a newbie trucker.

If you want to be embarrassed, tell somebody you work for a large bank as a mortgage collector. That ranks right up there with insurance or car salesperson..but wait, I did those too!

Since I decided to get my CDL, I have run in to several people who told me they had " always wanted to be a trucker.". Funny, all those years in insurance and banking, I never had anyone tell me they always wanted to be a banker!!!:biggrin_2559::biggrin_25526::biggrin_2559::biggrin_25518::biggrin_2552:

Happy to "amuse" you. My observations about "most" women come from 4 failed marriages (not bitter but thankful to have survived ) and 54 years of acute observation of the opposite sex. YOU are the exception, not the rule so your occupation and your relative few years on this earth excludues you from my experience. Everywhere I go I see 20 something young men with their #### cell phones stitched to their ears comforting their suspicious mates. A lot of them are issued phones by their women as a tracking device to monitor their every move and as soon as they get home their phones are scanned, their simm cards removed etc..etc...etc.. All I'm saying to the young driver is IF your gal friends fall into this catagory they are not gonna have anything to do with you cause your basically untrackable and uncontrollable for way too long for their narrow minded tastes !
