I agree, that's my point. I have repeatedly gone over the numbers fine tuning them and running scenarios. Most weeks based on estimates I would realistically pocket 700 for myself. Not a good payday for all the liability I would take on. If I could count on better per mile averages, and less fees from the company maybe.
Are you happy you are an Owner Op?

As you know yourself, your current numbers don’t work short or long term. So, let’s either find a different company or solution, make sure the numbers are correct on the expense side, and figure out something that is feasible and worth the risk.Rideandrepair and dwells40 Thank this. -

My two cents....if you’re leasing onto a company they should offer direct customers. There is no sense in leasing on and giving up a percentage for someone to basically hunt load board freight for you and pay you once a week.
Second, when you are looking at places to lease on don’t get hung up on the percentages. Look and see what you’ll be getting to your truck, that’s the only number that matters.
So I agree with @Midwest Trucker . Don’t give up just because the numbers from one place don’t work out. Shop around a little bit if you know you absolutely want to own a truck.whoopNride, wore out, PE_T and 2 others Thank this. -
I was happy and confident as O/O until I read this thread.
Now I think it's too hard and I'm going to go JBHUNT and stay out for 180 days at a time.
I'm not worried cause my dm will be friend.
If you even need to ask, "Should I be an O/O?"
You have already answered your own question.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -

2.00 to the truck means 2.50 or better gross before they take their cut. I don’t do general freight but I would imagine if guys were running around at 2.50+ all miles they wouldn’t be complaining right now. Last quarter I was 2.37 all miles doing food grade pneumatic and that put me at 1.73 to me after their cut. I provide power only, they own the trailer.
