I was in awe last year seeing so many here scorning at 2 dol per mile e.g. grossing 200K on 100K all miles, like they believed that 3 dol per mile was like Gravity or Oxygen, a thing permanently granted by Mother Nature. Yes most, including myself, were averaging more, or much more but it was not an average market.
I even remember some saying the phrase: "Don't be that 2 dol per mile guy" I was thinking WTF...am I so cheap minded or are they so full of it?
Well, not that I really cared...but I know that If I can average 2 dol per mile on 80- 90K miles every year ---- I will retire in 15 years a happy person. Which is not to say that I will not aim higher.
But the message is this: if 2 dol per mile is too cheap for some of you then I am glad...I will keep doing my thing while and you won't.
As someone once said to me here "I don't give a rat's ### what others are running for, I know what my rates are" After a couple of years, I could not agree more.
Important to note that I am talking about a dry van, which requires more mileage and more moves than other types of equipment.

When are some of you gonna get out of the $2-mile mindset?
Some of us have more of a maintenance regimen that requires more than just putting duct tape on a volvo...whoopNride, PoleCrusher, Midwest Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
