Does it mean a payed day based on your average salary when you do not take a day off? That is not bad...
I managed once in my carrier as a driver to bring 2 friends on board and do a 3 person team by rotation (each one of us had one week off every 2 weeks) and that was awesome. Trust me, time on the road accumulates and if you are a new driver who likes being out there you do not care. But being home is important.... you will see in 10 years. Imagine 10 years x 52 weeks per year accumulated that is 520 days payed at home .....And I am answering as a driver not as a recruiter

I dunno. Sometimes, better the devil you know
Vilhiem Thanks this. -
it briefly described the job, and pay. when i first applied, the job was paying $300 MORE than what i actually got hired for, and the reason why was, they were "experimenting" with a different way to do the job, which took, well, more time. when they found it was next to impossible, to get the truck back to the d/c center by 4 Am, they dropped the extra stops and switch out.
the guy that was doing the run, it was his run for about 4 years, and they wanted to try something different. he could not take it anymore and quit, but had he waited for 4 weeks total (the trail period) they would have still dropped it. but he quit, they put the ad on Craig's List, I responded and got hired, doing the "old run" as it always was...
it really could not have been any better for me that happened. i got hired on at 3 stops per night, then went to 4, then 5....(2 of those in downtown Boston, with a 53 trailer)
now, my 2 Boston stops were removed due to the tight streets, not only in good weather, but all that freaking snow closing the gap ever more. and the near total lack of snow plowing to get there, and the lot's themselves.
I still get paid the same as all 5 stops, (i only do 3 each night) so in actuality, i got a pay raise.
but they REQUIRE 5 years experience, and at the very least, minimum of 30 years of age to be hired, which to me, is wonderful........no newbies to screw up the dedicated account.Pintlehook, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed, Big Don and 1 other person Thank this. -
It's all a trade off I suppose. Still, I continue to consider alternatives that have more off-time while keeping the pay up and avoiding the lower living standard that goes with working around cities. It's easy to get comfortable with what we are used to and just settle though. I understand that.Last edited: Aug 15, 2015

On the other hand, I usually get some good pizza in Chicago.Vilhiem Thanks this. -
One of the great things about this industry. There is something for almost everybody who WANTS to work. OTR, Regional, Local. Whatever. Sometimes a mix of any or all of the above.
So anytime a driver has found his "niche" that is just great. While it might not work for someone else, it works for him. That's all that a person can ask for.
If you hate what you are doing, it is likely no one's fault but your own. Life is too short to spend it working at something you hate.Cody1984 Thanks this. -

Every time I see the title of this thread, "Are You Insane," I want to reply, "hell NO! I'm in Utah!" but then I realize just how little difference there is. . .
Vilhiem and HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thank this.
