If it gets these unsafe people off the road and saves families. Sure no big deal at all. Stop every truck and inspect every truck if they need to. It comes with the job and I am an O/O and would love to see every unsafe driver and truck off the road!

You do not have the same personal rights as a citizen does driving a car when driving a Commercial Truck. Never gonna happen.

What "unsafe"? Show me a study, show me more than TWO EXAMPLES of how EXACTLY not being able to read and write english makes the roads safer.

Back up your statement with PROOF.

You cant because there isnt any....

So YOU are willing to surrender YOUR constitutional rights. Wonderful. Not all of us are...

Good thing for me it takes 38 states for that to happen. Change 10 more states, THEN talk about it. Until then its just something for people to get all riled up over for NOTHING!!

    Dunk drivers kill how many?
People that cant read kill how many? Guess which I am more in favor of locking up and throwing away the key on...

DRUNK TRUCKERS kill more people than people that cant read do by the way... A #### load more. Wheres the outrage? Where is the "blow in this tube" at every scale house?

I'm glad while watching this video because it is honestly, long overdue. In Canada its around 50% of New Canadians who don't understand english in trucking will have to now wake up and learn English. The Usa is a lower ratio percentage however, a larger Populous so it becomes almost equivalent. So now that they made it a serious issue I'm sure its going to reflect where it should be permitted where English should be proficient.

Here's the problem with your rant........driving is not a constitutional right, it's a privilege. Get your facts straight first.

    This isnt true
Immigrate To Canada As A Truck Driver | Arnika Visa

From section 1 - express entry program:
Then, the Express Entry system uses a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank the applicants against other applicants in the pool on a points-based system considering a variety of factors, including age, education, work experience (Abroad and Canadian work experience), language proficiency in English and French, family members and details on any job offer.

Proficiency in French and English is part of the points grading system - NOT a requirement...

It is. And it is granted by the STATES, not the feds. And the constitution also says that states have to treat everyone as they do a citizen equally... South Dakota says Sioux is an official language. Someone that was raised on the res, lived in the US all their life. Has been driving for years, but just so happen to not be that proficient in the language is a danger? In what universe?

Again, where is the DATA that says people that cant read and write english cause more accidents?

No one can produce it. Why? Because it doesnt exist.

However, interstate transportation is governed by the feds......they get to make the rules and enforce them.

Within the confines of the law, correct. And it is up to the courts to decide if those laws / regs are in fact legal. Correct? This WILL BE challenged in court, make no mistake on that, so you doubt that? I got some money Im willing to wager on how that case will come out...

Again, I (personally) am 100% behind making english the national language. Im not opposing that. But IT ISNT RIGHT NOW. And until it is, ANYTHING restricting peoples freedom of speech (1st amendment) is unconstitutional. And I am willing to put my money where my mouth is on how this is ultimately going to come out.

Again, where is the data that shows how much better our lives as Americans will be in this "reg" stands?

    Anyone?

    Bueller? Bueller?

I have asked for this a dozen times at least between this thread and others and no one has provided ANY data to date that supports it. It is a witch hunt, nothing but. As I have said countless times...

I DO NOT WANT TO SIT FOR HOURS IN A LINE TO READ THE CAT IN THE HAT TO A D.O.T. GUY AT EVERY SCALE HOUSE IN THE COUNTRY

Papier bitte.... Was fought against in 1945 (thats German for papers please).
