We are in the foothills of the Ozarks. Where my house was and where our current living is approximately 40 feet higher than the nearby railroad track elevation above sealevel. That track determines who floods when the Bayous here fillip and then back into Little Cypress and Big Cypress Bayous closing US 67 in several places. Those Bayous below us help with flood control. Water goes bye bye up to 9 inches in 8 hours or 12 inches in 14 hours. Anything more than that such as from a hurricane that takes a week to pass through makes us wet but not flooded. But closes the highways and roads all over the place. A few years ago Georgetown in the eastern part was isolated and flooded for 5 weeks creating problems with using two lane roads in that direction.

It's excessively detailed but we are on good ground and do not really worry about that. *Knock on wood.

Little Rock with the VA Clinic is always been very important. Many times they have flooded out many ways to get there. So we keep a real good watch and there are certain routes we can use, AR 107 comes to mind, a hour and half winding down the hills into town... its usually the last standing road in really bad flooding.

Winters are worse. Toss a chainsaw into the truck prepared to saw down a bunch of smaller trees, toss the trunks into a washed out cut 4 feet wide two deep into the entire pavement to get across without 4x4. The state comes up to replace it soon enough here and there. After storms in winter. Country living at it's best.

US 67 will become I-57 in a few years. It is not only being replaced completely, but raised up several feet above and beyond common flood spots that were always a problem since 1962. So Im expecting when they are finished with that we can just enjoy the scenery and roll.

Ok Residents of the Lollie Bottoms part of the Arkansas River within the less than the last hour of this posting are told to get out.

The earlier battle to patch this levee is now essentially a defeat as this levee is failing.

The rest of Conway is allowed to sleep tonight, only the Lollie Bottoms district are the ones who need out now.

Moving along. The river is falling west of Mayflower, and in several places down to minor and moderate flooding.

We will rest easy when the Lake Conway dam equalizes and begins to run towards the Arkansas again.

The river is crested and is falling somewhat at Little Rock.

It's Cresting at Pine Bluff causing various local problems there.

Pendelton is due to cresting soon.

These are expected to be record crests.

The next river is the Mississippi. If you are along there south of us you are probably going to witness some truly epic flooding in time.

Rains are expected out to 10 days. I don't believe it will influence the rivers too much if it does not rain too hard too fast. We will see.

The highest I saw water level to I 40 when I went through last Monday was within about 2 feet of the interstate. That's pretty close.

Was just a tad west of mm 120 near Conway.

    Oh REALLY?

I knew it. But havent heard a dam thing until you posted.

Thank you kindly, welcome to Arkansas. Hope things are smooth for you. Be careful east of Little Rock on that 40. Traffic has a habit of royally screwing a straight stretch.
