    Hello Guys and Gals,

I'm looking at getting into Arkansas' Truck Driver Training Pilot Initiative, ( try saying that 10 times fast :biggrin_25523:) , and saw Maverick was one of three carriers I could commit too after graduating. I've been impressed from what I've seen here and on their website so far.

My question is: Has anyone here gone through the program or heard from someone who has then joined Maverick? What was your/their experience? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Never heard of that program, is it new...?

Either way, you can't really go wrong here. It's a great place to work, at least until you walk on the grass at the terminal ;)

that right there sounds like every issue in Arkansas! Are they that much about the fitness of the drivers there.

I'm not sure if it's new or not. http://www.truckingarkansas.com/index.html is the website for it.

Thanks for you input. I'll be sure to avoid the grass if I come aboard :biggrin_2559:

LOL it's not about fitness, it's a test of respect. They tell new guys to stay off the grass, and they watch who listens. I've send them send guys packing for ignoring the rule.

They figure if you can't be respectful of the hard work they do on the landscaping, then you're not Maverick material. And I agree wholeheartedly.

Looks like a decent program. I really like the fact that they are honest Bout the starting salary. So many schools claim you'll make $50,000 to $60,000 your first year, and they are flat out lying. There is a learning curve.

Maverick does pay very well though. I made $41,000 my first year here. And I'm earning more per mile than my 2nd cousin who has been driving for 23 years. Maverick is the highest paying company for low experience drivers that I have ever seen.

    Moby Thanks this.

Well it's better than the skyhook... I've lived in Arkansas for a long time and when I was a kid I remember us driving by and staring at all the shiny trucks and well kept grounds. Sharp looking place if I do say so.

Nice to hear someone say it looks OK. Seems like a good deal to me. Just paid off my student loans and sweet lord I'm never taking out loans for education again.

Glad to help your bro out. Props to you for doing it on your own. Sounds tough.
