We are paid the same way, by the barrel and mile. You get the hourly stuff if you break down, wait over an hour to load or unload, attend a meeting, etc. I think a lot of the performance based haulers do it that way.

Thanks for all the great info. I will be heading to Texas soon myself. Can you tell me if they offer camp accommodations? I have tanker but not the hazmat yet. Do you think I should get my hazmat first or wait till I get there? I've had it before but didn't have the need to renew at the time. Thanks again for all the info, Kevin P.S. tried to send pm, can't do that until I have 7 posts

1) Even if you have hazmat from another state you still have to go and get your fingerprints redone which costs $$$ (again).
2) If you already have hazmat the state gives you a wavier so you can haul hazmat while you wait for your fingerprints to come back. Also you are more marketable because those hiring you know you should be able to obtain it within TX if you currently hold it in another state. -
Ok, thanks for the reply.

You need to have the Texas hazmat, so wait 'til you get there.

What's the deal with the Texas hazmat stuff? Do you have to retake the written part or just get your prints redone? And why in the hell wouldn't it just transfer from say, Missouri to Texas? I'm totally lost on this situation.
