I would apply as soon as you can and make sure you get your hazmat test done and applied for it takes a while to get the background check done

 

Great now i keep hearing from sites like this one if i get a tanker/hazmat in AZ that TX won't recognize it and i'll have to re-apply when/if i get hired on with a company out there any idea if that's true?

 

You will have 90 days to get everything switched over to TX. But, you have to have your hazmat/tanker endorsement or they won't even look at your application. So, you end up doing it twice but it'a small price to pay for the jobs you can get.

 

I wonder why. I just did my TWIC and it took about 16 or 17 days, and TWIC is the same background check as HazMat. Or at least that's my understanding.

Anyone know how the pay at sunoco or oxy is for a crude hauler real vs what they tell you?

 

I have been with them for a month now. Pay is exactly as they advertised. The only kicker is that payroll runs two weeks behind, not a week like most places. However, they do give you a 40 hour advance check your first week to help you get by. It is not paid back until you terminate employment with them. New drivers are making .50 cents a mile plus .23 cents a barrel with hourly rates for the instances you are not driving such as breakdown, waiting to load, rejected loads ecetera. Experienced is the same except you make .24 cents per barrel. You will train for a minimum of 14 work days if experienced and 25-30 if not experienced. There is no exception to this, don't ask. I was good to go after day 3 but policy is policy. You are making the same pay as if you were on your own so who cares, at least you have someone to talk to while you are working!

 

What is the hourly pay for Sunoco ? If your broke down or for meetings ?

 

Breakdown is $16 meetings are $19 reject loads are $14.25 plus mileage, trainers make $26, we also grease our trucks once a week and give them a good once over. That is $12 per person who performs it, usually two people split the work. If you do it all its $24
