It's in Abilene...I'm driving there from Las Vegas.
I actually was a couple hours from getting in my car last Tuesday to prospect in Midland when the recruiter called. So, I put off my trip to coincide with the potential interview. Now I can go and check things out. Luckily my path to Abilene takes me right through Midland. If all goes well I'll be apartment hunting on the way home to finish packing.

Wow, Giggles, and this is at Sunoco and running out of TX?
-
If this is too personal, I apologize, but do they paychecks come weekly, bi-weekly or what? And how long after day one of orientation do you get your first paycheck?
-
You get paid every other Friday by direct deposit. After orientation Sun will front you 80hrs at their base hourly rate. If you quit or are terminated this 80 hours will be deducted from your final paycheck. Hope this helps
-
Thnk you! Yeah, this definitely helps! Do you know what that housrly base rate is?
-
You don't actually get paid by the hour. The base rate is 18-19 an hour. You get paid by miles and barrels. The only time you get hourly is breakdown, management approved time, or like the 80 hours I talked about. Base rate is not very good. No problem making more $
per hour if you work.
-
Yeah, I was just asking so I could get an idea of how much the advance is since that could really help out a lot since I am moving from out of state for this job
-
awesome thread! i started reading it last night; was getting excited, then went to bed and started reading again this morning and got not so excited about what arky was saying.
i have an in-person interview on tuesday. i will be in the elk city, oklahoma location.
i also have an interview on monday with a different company. not sure which one i want to take. -
Don't let the bad equipment stories bother you. This something all trucking companies go through when you drive off road and rough roads. It's just part of the job. If you have hourly pay as a back up you should still do OK.
-
Yeah i was wondering ab that too.. i understand breakdown pay when youre otr. Youre on the side of the road and could be hundreds or even thousands of miles from home. But if youre just down the road, close enough be picked up (but dont) if something is wrong with your truck, do you still get breakdown pay? If so, i really dont see how it could hurt you THAT much if your truck breaks down. Unless the hoses and all are really shiddy in which case it could take forever to do your jobs and thats is highly annoying.
