Hey now! Some us are trying to escape because we're tired of all the looters and want to work hard for what we earn...

Pay this person no mind he's just trying to stir up #### so it will start stinkin. I am in San Angelo and the prices on food and basic every day stuff is not bad. Rent is high but that's to be expected. there are new company coming in here ever week. People here are not real friendly unless there going to get some of your money. but I'm a outsider and I expect that been there before.Last edited by a moderator: Nov 19, 2013

Who is stopping you? If you want out, get out...plenty of people looking for work and you have options as well. Thats all I'm saying...there is no need for drama. Take a look at your situation...if it needs some correction...do it. The opportunities are there....especially if you have experience already.Big Duker Thanks this.

today? Or a while back about the apt? Thought I replied to that one?

Right now...I'm the only one stopping me. Getting some loose ends squared away while doing my research.
Arky Thanks this. -
Okay, I have just moved to Midland from Las Vegas...here's what I've found:
The people are VERY friendly!
There's tons of well paying work.
There's just about every chain restaurant as every other city.
Cost of living is pretty low compared to other cities.
Rent is high... 1x1's are $800-up in Odessa and $1,000 and up in Midland
Constant traffic for a town this size but nothing compared to any big city.
Good road system offers multiple options.
Plenty of things to do here.
Mild, moderate weather.
No state income tax
Lots of pickup trucks
Absence of gang/ghetto types -Midland...supposedly Odessa has some but I haven't seen it yet.
Absence of graffitti
FWIW, I find it amusing that a poster would tell people to stay away because they're ruining the place, then bash the place and say they want to leave...if you want to leave then you shouldn't care if others WANT to come here. ....likewise, if you don't like it here, put on your big-boy pants and leave!jte Thanks this. -
Yeah about the apt. You may have sent message and I didn't see it this small screen and I don't do good.

Only read the last few pages of this thread, going to go back and read the first part when I get home from work. Anyway. Just curious what the odds of landing a job based out of Abilene might be? It sounds likea good company to work for, and after looking at there web site, they are military/veteran friendly which is a plus. I am currently stationed in Abilene and hope to stay here after I seperate from the Air Force. And this would be a good way to make a similiar pay check if not a little more than what I get paid now. So any idea on getting an Abilene job, or is it just luck of the draw?
