Im asking again since no one knew anything ab 12 pages back. Anyone know anything ab sunoco out of hearne?

Arky, great thread you started. Loving all the info. I had a phone interview yesterday that I think went pretty good and was told I'd get a phone call tomorrow or Monday. I'm hoping that's the actual job offer call. They said they were with the Abilene office. Any quick info on them and that particular area?
Anyways, I wanted to ask you what exactly do you mean by "leases" and "finding leases"?

Leases are where you get oil from. The land is leased, usually to an energy company.

Yes, it's usually a dirt(caliche) road cut through someone's property. You will probably have to go through a cattle guard and maybe open/close a gate and it may be miles long with several leases on it! Some are narrow, rutty, bumpy, muddy, dusty and have washboards and domed...meaning you gotta stay straight or risk listing. Often you will have a train of cars and trucks piled up behind you as you slow to make the turn. The county roads are often only one lane each way, 60-70mph and barely any shoulder. What you have to watch out for are the idiots that decide to pass you on what ever side you're turning to as you turn! I've had people pass on the left opposing lane as I was turning left....yes! They went onto the shoulder in opposing lanes blindly! That's why people are getting killed out here! And yes, My signal was on and I was halfway across when they did that too!

 

Those drivers sound just like ones in metro NYC and Boston!

 

Like my father always told me ya gotta d rive defensively. A lot of idiots out there.

 

That's about the toughest part of the job...and that only really happens in closer to the city...mostly I'm driving 15-100 miles away.
