We arrived on time to Allentown pa 2-16-18 at 8am Friday for 8:30am appt. Receiver told us our appt was always 9:30pm and to come back. Liz Vergara and Hong Tang with Armstrong insisted receiver changed delivery appt in transit and we would get detention for laying over all day and missing our load to Maine. FACTS- Armstrong lied about appt to get the load covered and after 6 days requesting detention offer $150 for 12 hours and sitting over the weekend. This is fraud and clearly a textbook bait and switch folks. Simply proven by the way they handled this 1) Blaming the customer 2) promising to take care of it through emails and dragging it out 6 days 3) end result not doing right thing. We will not give this company anymore trucks and will be sending emails to every carrier and company we know. There are many reputable companies that you can haul for..... Armstrong is not one of them.

That is really disturbing! Disturbing to find out that they do such things too! I've had good memories with them so far.
In my case it was CH Robinson who tricked me once into a pick up that turned out to be a load recovery without even mentioning anything. The lesson from this is to call a receiver ahead of time, even before signing the Rate Con., to verify staff, especially when there is something fishy like a pick up at Kraft Foods without an appointment. Who wants to do that every time though?

They, the Armstrong Transport Group, should have saved their face and made their alleged lie more credible by giving you generous detention or layover right away, on the spot. I would have, if I were them, even if the lie turned out to be truth, and the receivers were liars. It is called reputation management.

Reason for edit: Lack of knowledge of how to spell liars. The plural.

I've dealt with Armstrong quite a bit on oversize loads ... have always gotten a fair deal from them. But, detention rates, and appointment times were spelled out on the rate con and carrier packet.

    DSK333 and Oxbow Thank this.

So the detention details were not written beforehand in the rate con nor carrier packet?

Probably not but that doesn't excuse what Armstrong did in this scenario.

Agreed but at least he'd have a leg to stand on to get his detention pay.
