Thank you all. I wish I could go back active but they do not want to bring Prior Service back active right now. I know that by having some "extra" income from the reserves I can keep the cushion in the bank account. I have been out of work since January and had a hard time finding a new job. Trucking has been something I have always wanted to do. I think between trucking and the reserves I can keep 2k a month rolling in.

From trucking and the army or just trucking alone? Keep in mind I have no experience. I will be a new student. I want to make 40k my first year if possible. I am fine with between 24k and 30k my first year. I have been live on less than 2k per month right now.

The only ones that would know is the recruiter for these trucking companies but going into the military can offer you many benifits through out your life

stay in reserves a year , ask for a letter of conditional release and go active duty!!! if u are already in the guard and reserve and u are called to drill is illegal for any company or school to terminate you!!!being in combat mode now days , the dod and the feds dont play around when it comes down to this!! as how we are treat it as vets , by the civilians, we are treat worst then the civilians are .no company (not military related) goes out their ways to hire or be good to vets!!

Isn't military truck driving a bit more dangerous than even active combat duty? I mean, those are the guys hitting the IEDs, right? You're transporting troops and gear...

The good thing is that the school I am going through has told me I can come back for a refresher if needed at NO CHARGE! So I am not worried I just want to be able to transition easily after basic and AIT. Since I am prior service I know what to expect and hope that I will not require a refresher.
