Unfortunately you're correct, at least when I got out.

I had 10 yrs experience driving tankers in 5 different countries but it didn't count for anything.

I also was a Hazmat instructor while in the Army but it did not help me on the civilian side, even though the rules are the same.

    Ammo 62 course completed too.

    Technical transportation of Hazardous Material.

We became the certifying official for all HazMat shipments for our unit as well as the certified trainers for all of our drivers.

Nobody did anything with hazmat without our reviewing it.

We were responsible for all forms of shipments, land, sea or air.

We can get college credit for that course as well through DANTES if I remember correctly.

Same here. I was a 77F (fuel handler[over-glorified truck driver]) and also did alot of 55B (ammo) work. Hauled around alot of 1.1 and 1.2 nasty things but didn't mean squat on the outside.

1.1 and 1.2 are fun things to load up. Nothing like having a truck with 25K lbs of HE on it.

If I were to start a trucking company and plan on hiring drivers, I'd call it "88M" and only hire vets.

Use only DA, DD forms too....LOL.

hell yeah sounds great. i dont know why they deny us like that. we may not get all that "over the road" experience like they want but i would classify alot of the hauling i did in iraq in my 915 as a lot of over the road work. but it is what it is. im just trying to set myself up for if i can't reenlist as a 88m here at fort campbell. i know itll take awhile but my goal is to start out doing 40 cent a mile doing regional and being in the national guard as well in tennessee or doing local work. i would like to in the future around when its retirment time to be an owner operator.

77F Here also! No Slack Uniform!

I got consideration when I got out from my training program like I stated, I also had the 88M training and had to go through some German driving course for a week, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

There is not a more boring job than a 77F. :biggrin_2559: I watched a lot of soap operas 6 months behind schedule and drank a lot of Weisen

That sounds like one H#$# of an Idea. I'd be among your first applicants.
However in this politically correct mess. You'd probably be accused of discrimination for not considering those who never served.

That said.. the worm might be turning, when I got out we were pretty much invisible, Now our service members are beginning to get the recognition deserved. Could recognition of Military experience be far behind?

    I sure hope not :biggrin_25510:

There are training requiremenrs that need to be met.

Not my fault you verify it with a dd214 or military transcript.
