I Just graduated from Roadmaster Driving school in Dunn NC today. I also went and got my TWIC card, Passport, Hazmat, Tanker, and Doubles and Triples endorsement while I was in school just to knock it out now to make myself more marketable later. I am currently serving in the army and have one more month until I am out and plan on going to a company as soon as I am discharged from active duty. I have my heart set on flatbedding because I like the home time on most weekends and and the percentage option that a lot of the companies offer. I also enjoy physical aspect involved in flatbedding rather than just drop and hook. I have looked into many companies and spent countless hours and I have arrived with the decision to go with PGT The Proud Professionals. I have not been able to find a whole lot of current information on the company, but all that I have found seems to be positive. So now to the question, is there any PGT drivers on here and what if any issues have you ran into with PGT? Also I would greatly appreciate any advice anyone has for me on being successful in the flatbed industry.

Nothing at all?

Crazy thing, I was driving on I40 in NC and saw a PGT truck. So this means there are definitely still drivers at PGT, so I am still confused why no one will respond. I have probably posted in the wrong area or something.

Submitting my app on monday. There are a few threads in search that are pretty close to current.

Good luck keep me posted on how it goes. I still have 1 month in the army and I will be on my way. I guess a lack of info is not necessarily a bad thing as most the companies the size of PGT have a ton of reviews and a lot of them are bad so they must be keeping drivers happy and busy.

What king of info do you want? am a current pgt driver

As I said before I am new to the whole driving thing and I am just trying to gather as much info as possible before I start so I know what I am jumping into and I can show up prepared. Some things I have not been able to locate answers to on here are. What kind of pay can I realistically expect weekly ( I am very self-motivated and will work very hard)? What kinds of things should I bring to orientation with me? Do you have any tips that can make me more successful with PGT? I can not think of any thing else right off the top of my head, but I will probably remember as soon as I submit this. Oh yes one final question. I do not know if you have worked at other companies, but how would you compare PGT to others? The reason I chose them is because the recruiter I talked to seemed to be honest and straight forward with me. He even told me a couple other companies to look into before I made my final choice to go with them. He spent a great deal of time making sure I had all my questions answered, however as much as I believe most everything he told me I still am wary because he is a recruiter. Thank you in advance for your response.

I never hear many complaints from PGT drivers but Id stay away from their lease purchase. I just talked to a recruiter there because we are moving into the Weirton area soon and I was floored by what I was told. Average mileage on lease trucks are 600k,2005-2007 trucks, fixed costs including truck payment of over $660/wk plus another $185 trailer rent for a minimim of 39 months. Thats asking for trouble maintenance wise. I could see a lease payment that high if it was for two years or less but almost four years on a worn out truck is crazy!

I do not have any plans of doing a lease purchase from any company at this point. I am brand new out of school and the Army so I will work as a company driver and learn everything I can for at least two years and then possibly look into buying a truck or other options. Thank you for the warning though I am very excited to come on board with PGT.

Many that is kinda crazy on the lease. Well then again what leases through a company are actually all that great. The only on that seems like you could succeed with is the one that nwmaxi is doing at sammons. I got hired on monday and I scheduled my orientation date for nov 5. Currently hauling cans and I need the last few weeks to hopefully get my truck sold before i head out.
