Totally agree. But also if he is in charge of your equipment I think the man should be properly compensated for over seeing the security of your equipment when he is supposedly "Off duty".

The driver that snitched on him is probably smiling in a mirror and patting himself on the back for saving the world. He'll probably call his mommy and say he should be a Navy Seal.

This is a really screwed up business to say it lightly , that a grown man can not enjoy a beer that is perfectly legal for 99 percent of airline pilots to consume inbetween flight schedules , but a man driving a company truck it is not permissible.

Man people on this forum are so jumpy on fellow members... As soon as someone mentions drink most of the people on this forum jump on them and say they are not responsible and can't drive a truck... Sometimes I think this bored is full of sqaures!!!!!

If the guy isn't driving on a reset then whats the big deal.. I don't give a flying F he is at home or out of state... There is no one in this world who will tell me what I can and can't do on my reset... As long as I am sober by the time those wheels need to roll then it should be good.. Sure maybe he got a little too intoxicated, made some remarks and went to a jail cell for something stupid that doesn't make him a irresponsible driver... You guys are unbelievable lol.. Especially the one posts comment "do you want to get drink or do you want to drive truck" you must be joking me I almost shat my pants laughing at that comment lol.. People are allowed to have LIVES and do as they want... As long as he isn't driving that truck drunk who gives a crap... You can enjoy life and drive a truck at the same time...

As far as being responsible for the truck... If the company isn't paying me while I am off duty to babysit the truck they can screw off... Your on a OFF DUTY reset which means your OFF DUTY... No way in heck am I going to watch over a truck for 34hrs when I am on my own free time... If the company pays me then fine I will but otherwise they can go blow a goat...

As for the RAT of a co-driver I would be punching that motherF out... The guy didn't put this guy at risk so what's the issue... If buddy is sober and ready to drive when the reset is done then the co-driver is just scumbag... He cost this man his job for nothing... He didn't try to jump in the truck drunk and roll on out.... Man people need to mind their own business instead of poking there nose into things that don't concern them..

Too many whiners on this board about what people do on there personal time.. Like all of lifes actives must because you drive a truck... Sorry my life doesn't stop because I drive a truck.... There is 168hrs in a week... I work 40-60hrs of that... The other 108-128 is my time!!!!!!!

hey if you wanna get drunk on your time off more power to you,get insanely drunk for all I care but as long as you are under your companies care even on your reset, they can and will tell you what to do whether you like it or not.

Well I don't drink so it doesn't matter to me... I am also local and home everyday.... But I will tell you one thing.. If I were to go back on the road.. NO ONE will tell me what to do on my personal time.... So no the can't and will not tell me what to do... If they fire me then I will get them for wrongful dismissal and I would take them to court.. I don't work for free and I don't babysit trucks for free end of story... I would never sign on to any company that tells me I must stay with the truck on my reset either... If you want to work for free and be your companies pet then go ahead, but if I am not getting paid to watch the truck with a eagle eye then forget it...

I am sure most OTR people are already doing more then enough for the company they work for... Spending time way from the family weeks on end, sitting in traffic not getting paid, driving in all kinds of weather conditions and the list goes on.. The last thing I am going to let my company do is to dictate to me what I can do on my own personal reset time when I am stuck in buck-F-idaho away from my family...
