Mack sleepers are rare as hens teeth - I see more old COE's on the road (one a day). You may wind up buying the wheelbase and sleeper you want, and changing the specs as soon as you can.

The fact that they run their own engines is what hits them for OTR work - not sure how you'd find a dealer for parts if you needed them. Macks are great trucks (built like a brick ####ehouse) and I hope you find what you're looking for - best to you.

But I darn sure would not be going with pre emissions the way these tree huggers are getting into everything! And if you go west thats NOT a good thing! The fines alone will put you out of buisness. Might as well get with the times.

They've been able to stall the tree huggers these days on trying to replace every single heavy truck on the road (not gonna happen). I think even CA is stalled until 2014, and I won't run there anyway because they're not really part of the US. Personally, I vote they start with the cars - at least make everyone get their personal vehicles inspected once a year and see that they're running right.

Funny thing is, all the idle bans and smog garbage doesn't address the greater problem of everyone driving pickup trucks and SUVs. For the emissions my 18 wheeler puts out, there are 2 pickup trucks driving next to me that put out more, and they're hauling nothing. It would take 4 of the largest pickups made to carry what this truck will do by itself - on half the fuel. And I'm not driving it for kicks - it hauls freight unless I have to d/h because of lousy rates and high-priced fuel.

Another side rant - we pay road use taxes, fuel taxes, 2290 taxes, and all the filing fees - what do they pay? Get out of my pocket people, or you won't have any trucks to pick on - and you'll be starving, broke, and freezing nekkid.

Even my 2005 EGR equipped truck isn't "emissions compliant" with all the extra hardware it has. I'm not allowed to idle in no-idle states (much like the non-compliant APU's that have been sold). It gets worse mpg than a pre-emissions truck, and if any of it breaks - man am I going to pay! I have yet to see it pollutes less than a good running pre-EGR truck - and I think it's a buncha BS. Thanks for selling me magic beans - you buncha politicians. Now can someone tell me how I'm going to survive through the summer heat without a $9,000 APU??!

The only real "choice?" in dealing with these pompous bureacratic bullshiters is to run right out and buy a 2010 brand new fancy truck to haul their dollar a mile freight and go broke. Mind you, you'll probably have to buy that DEF emissions sludge until they find something wrong with it and tell you to drive that truck into a junkyard. Just my 2 cents, and now back to our previous programming..... :)

HwyPilot I agree about the fuel tax stuff, you pay then the govener says oh boy look at all my money. I have to snag a few million to, so call balance the budget. I have no plans to run west of the river. The last Mack I drove was a 06, 460p motor,487 hp, pulling a tanker, 48 and Cananda. The thing that bothered me,the most was the clutch fan always kicking in pulling hills, that kills your drive and mpg. I swear a 94 350 turned up a little, can out pull, that 460 and it had 390 gears. I would run a special mix, in the tanks.A little veg. oil, I know a guy that refines it, hydraulic jack oil, and any other good lubercant. The new ultra low sulfer fuel, is crap.

glad to see your got your truck straighted out!

My Arrow 780 has not given me any problems now at 12,500 of my miles on the clock, keeps chugging every day!

I had a good salesman, thought highly of him for a stranger.

We put about .12 mile in an account for all maint./repairs for future maint./repairs.
I know that seems high, but better to be prepared than put those maint./repairs on plastic.

I have only been rolling my new truck about 6 weeks!
About 2100 miles weekly,I'd do more miles if I could!

I think you should include a picture of your rig in your signature. I think it's a great setup and I'd share it with everyone here!
