All of these areas are known for Eastern European 1099 outfits setting up shop. Which is why a driver should be doing DUE DILIGENCE and RESEARCHING these companies before signing on the dotted line!

It's like a cancer and it's spreading- Chicagoland being the center of it.

These outfits are frontlines for illegal activity done in their home countries. It's a way to funnel money to and fro our country through the guise of trucking.

Like I said in the Chicagoland thread, the government needs to intervene. 1099 should not be allowed unless it's an O/O situation where the driver is using his own equipment and running it like a business.

    Hi Trucker Kev,

I saw you mentioning GP Transco in this reply - I work at the company and wanted to reach out.

I understand your concerns about the way some companies might operate and I can't speak informatively about the operation of other companies - I can only tell you about what I know, which is GP Transco. We are extremely transparent with our company drivers and owner-operators alike. We openly show any charges or deductions when they come and explain our O/O's the reasons; any charges are agreed upon in writing prior to partnering with an owner-operator, with no "fine print" and without misleading the owner-operator.

Thank you and have a great day!
