As an independent what are you averaging?

    If you know what your making and feel comfortable telling. I just want to compare and see. I have been doing 1.82 on all miles to the truck. I've been averaging 2500 miles. So been running hard. Gross rpm is 2.25. I am using their trailer. Staying out.

    How is flatbed market? I saw 2.33 mile on dat trendline and 1.81 for vans.

    Is it worth it if you are self dispatching yourself? Because that can take time as opposed to me being able to focus on driving and not having instead if keeping an eye on the boards?
    I just want to know is it worth it? If it isn't as much money how much less?

    I’m doing just as well this year as I did in 2018. Dry van freight. Get about 70% of my work from one broker, 30% DAT load board. About 6k of my miles this year were power-only.

    Year-to-date total miles - 25,750.
    Gross to the truck - $68,287

    I run the northeast and northern midwest. Never more than 1000 miles from home.
    Yesterday’s load from MI to PA paid $2579 on 625 miles.

    It’s highly unlikely to get that kind of rate right now running 100% load board but I won’t say it’s impossible.

    I would recommend making friends with good brokers who have consistent loads in your lane. Then give them a reason to choose you over other carriers.

    Have not done the math yet for this year. But last year leased into my company. I did $1.87. For every odometer mile (not just paid) the truck drove.
