Probably an O/O grossing 5k and netting 1k. I make more local, driving nightly than I ever did OTR. 39 hours last week almost $1400. Could I make a little more OTR? Sure, but not worth the hassle and if I want more money I sign up for a weekend night.

Back to the thread I stayed out 2 weeks when I was OTR, most was 6 weeks and that was entirely to long.

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to stay out longer than a week unless they choose to. If a carrier can't manage to get a driver home in 7-10 days, they are trash and should be voided. Again, unless a driver likes being out.

I am home every weekend and holiday. I usually take 3-4 weeks off a year. I own the truck. I have netted after all expenses and such over $80K for the last two years. I finally had to form an LLC with an S Corp tax structure to save some of my money from going to the gooberment. I now pay myself $750 a week, the average heavy truck driver income for my area of the country. Had a pretty good January this year. My net as of tonight for this year so far since Jan 1st is $5503 after all expenses, truck payments, payroll taxes, etc. Add to that the $4500 I have paid myself for this year. And I am home every weekend and generally stop at the house a couple of times a week. I generally will not haul anything that is further away than 500-600 miles from my house.
