All these problems started after the Democrats won power in the house and senate. They are the ones that controll the country. The president is just a figure head. Keep your Honda, I will try to keep my money over here instead of it going to Asian banks.

He is correct regarding the amount of oil available but, in this video (now maybe he tries to cover over the real facts in the book and wants you to buy the book to line his pockets), he brings nothing to support his erroneous claim that the Bush adminstration is keeping that oil underground. And just because he is a Baptist minister doesn't bring validity to any claim that "he must be right he wouldn't lie." Years ago a minister wrote a book, "88 Reasons Why Christ Will Return in 1988" and that never happened.
In fact, from news reports and presidential speeches he is wrong. The current administration and Republican congressmen have been pushing for drilling in ANWR and it has been the Democrats that have shot it down every time because they are funded by the environmentalist tree huggers. In my state of New Mexico the gas and oil companies have asked to drill in various portions of the state with the support of state Republicans but it has been our Democratic governor (the Secretary of Energy in the Clinton Administration) and the Democratically-controlled legislature that has shot it down every time. "We have to protect the pristine (ugly is more the word for it) mesas of New Mexico."
Just as truck drivers could make more if brokers weren't skimming off a large portion of the shipping costs before passing them on to the driver, American oil companies stand to have a better profit at lower pump prices if they were not supporting foreign regimes and middle men. And do you think the oil company executives like the fact that some states are looking at criminal investigations into their activities. Don't get me wrong, I think the oil companies are taking advantage of a situation but they have asked for US drilling permits and have asked to expand American oil production and the environmentalists have said "NO". I lived in California when they asked to expand offshore drilling and the environmentalists fought against that and won. It is just easy to blame everything on the president and say it is all his fault. Another little side economic reality for you folks, economic policy really takes about 8-10 years to actually make a difference. So those blaming the current administration for our problems are pointing the finger in the wrong direction (especially Hillary). Our current economic woes are a result of the economic policies being put in place in 1998 to 2000 and who was the president then? -
The democrats only won the power 2 years ago. The price of fuel has been on the rise since 1999. How can you actually just blame the democrats. -

One of the things people missed here is that the lecturer uses the word "potentially" and "projected" etc when discussing the size of the oil reserves. Supplying the US oil needs for '200 years' is on the extreme optimistic end of the scale.
These people never point out that - using only proved resources and no wishful thinking - the world has enough oil to operate for about 50 to 100 more years. Based on current use. Who here thinks that crude oil use will stay the same or diminish in the next 100 years? C'mon, raise your hand so all can see.
Personally, I don't have a problem with us using oil from overseas at the moment. In a very short time, those countries will be effectively out of oil - and flat broke. Very very few of them are investing in alternative industries to support their economy - when the oil does dry up, they'll see an economic crash. A big one.
When their oil is gone.. who's gonna have oil left in the ground to cushion the crunch? Hmmmm. Let's think on that for a bit.
When the time comes, when we actually need that oil, not all the tree-huggers in Kalifornia will stop the US Gov't from getting it out of the ground.
American life style will change - but it's done that before. Long trips in the car will become much less common. More people will own 'commuter' cars (electric, hybrid, hydrogen - whatever). For long trips, bus and train will come back into vogue. Air travel will diminish drastically
Trucking will be essentially unchanged. Probably less long-haul and more regional, but still, essentially unchanged.
Bio-diesel will be predominant, since it can be easily and cheaply made in any home from just about any oil (vegetable, fish, or mammal fat) (if you want to see how, take a look at http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_make.html ). Petroleum oil will be used for high-end applications - aircraft, for instance.
I digress. Again.
The long and the short of it is, the world is running out of oil. Whether it happens in 100 years or 20, it's going to happen. I'd rather run dangerous people out of the market than use our own supplies to make life a bit more convenient for myself today. -
Boy, you really don't have a clue.
I have the fuel records that show the increases when they happened.
I voted for the idiot in charge one time. He didn't get me the second time or I would be the fool. -
The democrates and the republicans r both, as it has been said, two wings of the same bird.
The democrates are secretly supporting the corporations by supporting the invasion of the United States of America by third world countries in the name of freedom.
The real republicans, the business', like resturants and contractors want third world people so they can pay them 1/2 or less of what they pay Americans. Many of them would have to work themselves if they didn't have illeagls to working for them. They claim they work hard. They work hard getting rich while Americans have to use credit cards to pay for gas and food, and they get nowhere. While coroprations get rich by growing their companies with plenty of cheap labor and new consumers.
It is said that there r around 20 million illegals in the USA. I beleive this is wrong. I beleive there r atleast 50 million illegals and probably more. How much fuel does 20-50 million illegal aliens use. There r suppose to be 150 million working people in America. If 50 mil of the 150 mil r illegals then if u kick the illegals out there would be a big drop in gas prices. Why doesn't television and r government address this; because the coroprations own both of them lock, stock and barrel.
When u'all start taking about the dem's and the rep's as if u r one of them, maybe ya might do some heavy thinking. Bush wrote NAFTA and Clinton signed. Clinton also allowed jobs to move,in a big way, to China and India. And guest what they r the reason for the huge increase in oil.
The way I see it is they r both the enemy of the working citizens of America.
