Yeah I'm thinking less stress and less exposure is going to be the way to go.
Routing I'm going to run this trip up is only 60 extra miles. On a 900 trip that's less than 10% oor so thinking I can justify it if asked. I'm glad they treat us like drivers and give us some latitude with routing and fueling. Been reading some other threads where companies are forcing drivers to follow some pretty stupid and specific routings. Just couldn't work anywhere like that.classic_150 Thanks this. -
Its better than being on 85n in Atlanta. -
Well started out Mon, morning, turning down a pu at Pepsi in Tampa, the load in the trailer was a mess, and they had the trailer jacked up about 1 foot above the 5th wheel, they said that it must of been the driver that dropped it yea-right. Had to take pictures and sent them in to back hauls, then brought the laptop into there office and showed them, they changed there tune and jumped on it and fixed everything, but it took some time.
Got it straight after a while, using pallets and straps, it would never had made to Columbia SC, and just got a back haul to ECRU animal feed, del just down the street for wen morning, avg about 525 a day for starters this week.
Also recv'd an extra $30. out of Ashley for the problem!
Ecru has 3 full rows of loaded trailers 1,2, and 3 -----
Well at my back haul, and they over loaded me, had go back and fix this problem, then when that was done, and I was on my way to scale out from the plant pick up, a driver broke down blocking the exit, the scale and the entrance to this factory. Could not win today.
Made a call and got another $15 out of Ashley for the poo I had to deal with on there back haul and making happen---
At mile marker 16 at a little truck stop for the night in Al, on 78 about an 1.25 hrs from Ecru---- end of the second day this week----
Got up this morning and had a dispatch waiting for me, After this load is done this morning, been dispatched to Houston frm Ecru, not bad at all, turning around to be a good week, after Houston it will be back to Ecru, then to Brandon fl. for home time.
Shaping up to be 3100-3200 for the week plus the extra fee's and drop and hook fees, not bad-think its starting to pick up- its about the right time of the year for it---
Well just some more money frm Ashley, the animal feed I just del this morning was addressed to the wrong store, the other was 6 miles closer to Ecru, ms CHA-CHING $15.
On my way to the factory Ecru then to Houston yard for a drop-----Last edited: Sep 24, 2014

can any of you guys give me good directions to the Romeoville drop lot?
my gps doesn't recognize the address and the onboard nav directions when I look it up in google earth shows that location to be mid south truck leasing. is that the right place? gotta drop at 5am -
Havent been there and I what you are saying it has to be on of those buildings, did notice that they do have numbers on them
Hope that helpsLast edited: Sep 24, 2014
flyingmusician Thanks this. -
55 south to exit 267 and turn left go to crossroads parkway and turn right follow until u come to veterans parkway and turn right. as soon as u turn right take ramp to right and there gate is right there.
flyingmusician Thanks this. -
I always consult several sources when I go in somewhere I haven't been before just to get the lay of the land, see where the gate is, parking options, an escape route if I miss the turn ect ect..... and usually it's a process of elimination and not too hard to figure out where it's at but that area only has about 1000 different truck lots lol
and figures as much as I've tried to avoid that area lately that's exactly where they'd send me
####### stupid gps wouldn't recognize the street no matter what zip code or town i put in until I scrolled the map to that location and clicked 'route to here'......then suddenly it knows where west south frontage rd is.......dumb ##### lol 30 seconds ago you told me it wasn't a valid address lol.......no wonder so many newbs get in trouble with those things -
if any of you haven't been up to arcadia this week just a heads up......if you go up 94 to 95 and go in that way that exit 105 to get off on 95 is going to be closed 9-28 thru 10-11 you won't be able to get off / on there westbound will have to find an alternate route into arcadia. they just put the sign up this week.
I've spent the week bouncing around in circles around arcadia. started out to Baraboo then portage then arcadia then Baraboo then portage then arcadia and now down here to Bolingbrook......then I head back up to Madison for a live load after I drop and then back to arcadia. figuring to get the load home out of arcadia this afternoon but won't have enough time left to make it in one stop so i'll be in sometime in the wee hours Saturday morning. haven't figured my miles yet but won't do too bad for the week and enough drops to make up the difference if it comes up a little short.Last edited: Sep 25, 2014

appreciate the help last night guys. if I'd followed the company directions/nav system I'd have been going around in circles looking for the place. it tried to take me 4 miles north of where I was supposed to be to the wrong place.
going to be a solid week. 3060 and 7 drops by the time I get home Saturday before daylight so basically 5 1/2 days out. one thing I always tried to impress upon my students was to not whine when they got short ones. they add up and you quickly build a reputation as someone to be depended on to handle business if you do whatever they throw your way and don't complain unless it's something that is worth complaining about.. it always comes back in the end. that's about all I did other than the trip up and the one back. other than those 2 all I had were 128, 166, 128, 166, 318, 318. I got 3 in one day and 2 the next into the next day. could have gotten into Bolingbrook yesterday if I'd rolled the dice but with only 24 minutes to the good didn't feel like taking the chance getting stung in 5pm traffic so I parked short and rolled in there this morning. I really padded the total for the drops and the miles added up as well. best case paycheck both long miles and high number of drops.
rolled into the TA in Janesville with 8 minutes left on the clock. could have gotten a little further if not for TK in Madison this morning. picked up a load of refurb apu's and took them forever to load then they got the count wrong after I checked it and took awhile to get the paperwork and load verified and straight. always check your load if you can. they had the wrong number of units on the trailer and some of the numbers on the units weren't right on the paperwork. if I hadn't checked it would have been on me. was pretty cool sitting there watching the f-16's doing touch and goes while I was waiting on them to load.
full grown followed prime in to the TA and lit him up once he got parked. gotta wonder what he did. we know it wasn't speeding lol
and another thing you don't see every day. guy beside me is a crst with a company million safe mile sticker on the truck lol
