Well, yeah. I was mostly taking an opportunity to poke fun at TQL's average employee.

Got to love it. A broker post an ask me anything thread and it's hijacked by 2 other anonymous brokers who proceed to downgrade the op LOL. ;-)

@Scooter Jones - It's all in good fun. :) Lord knows if he can't handle @boredsocial and me ribbing him a little, he's in for a bad time.

Ribbing him a little lol. I want to make him question every life choice he's made in this business and get him to quit.

Poor horsey gets nothing but the whip if hes late.

Oh well, what we should do I think to improve on that cultural problem in sales etc is to put ex truckers into the staff, who know what it takes for a load of whatever to actually get there from here.

It is not me personally saying no to screw everyone up. Its based on Hours of Service, speed governor and a host of other problems involved in a particular trip. For example Chicago is fixing to get a foot plus in about a day if the load is passing that way.

I am not your opponet, I do appreciate your explanation. Maybe I get into sales and start working on that appt time problem to make it better for the driver who has to do all the work getting it there.

Well, while that would certainly be helpful, the sales guys at those places still probably won't listen to you. They've got a pretty unreasonable set of expectations when it comes to shipping, and the nature of sales is that folks will often over-promise. I do occasionally get to slap some of them down, because one of my customers slugs me on an email to all staff involved with any load I take for them.

Yeah the sales people absolutely do not need to understand transportation. It's hard enough to find people who are willing to get rejected all day every day for money without adding additional experience requirements lol.

To borrow a mythology term, this sounds like a Gordon Knot.

I suppose if people hung up or slammed the phone in my ear long enough with abuse, I might need a little drink or something special at the desk soon enough.

Maybe the industry should buy robot trucks then. I don't know why I am so stupid in advocating for the drivers to have a little bit of time to get it there.

Why do some brokers take a healthy bite of the rate and then take all the fsc? Is it just people's nature to be greedy and deprive a trucker an opportunity to make a good buck?
