Thanks for the answer sazook, I really appreciate all the advice given here on these forums. Looking at Prime school and training to get me started in trucking. I know Prime has an extensive training program with a lot of miles with a trainer which I think is good. I have heard that NYC is nightmare to drive in so being a newbie that is intimidating. How much does Prime go into NYC and is it that bad?

We mostly just pass through - GWB inbound sucks except at 2AM; the CBE is really bad during rush hour. But you can say that about most places in LA too. Or Chicago. Or Atlanta...

The only in-city deliveries I've ever heard of done by Prime were repowered by drivers who specialize in da City.

I haven't had a delivery in NYC or on Long Island in over 2 years. IP, the worst traffic I have ever had on the GWB was at 2am, they had the lower level closed for construction, the wait to get to the toll booths was over 2 hours.

Glad its working out for you - and good luck with it.

I'll say right now that your success whether on the company or lease side depends a lot on your FM, and how he goes about managing you when you go empty.

I'm Hired, just got my ID today. Now I just have to wait for my trainer to get up here on Saturday.

6 months without a job, this is alot of stress off of my back finally.

Looking at a few companies. Roehl seems like they don't have very good miles or pay what Prime does.

Been with Swift for a year going on a year and a half.

If I go with Prime, would I still have to go through all that time with a trainer even if I got a year and a half experience?

Probably not, but it is possible to get some training miles. maybe 20k?

Dont take my word for it as fact. A recruiter might be able to answer that question.
