I am about to board a truck with my trainer later today. I had a large 30x14 duffle and a backpack. My sleeping bag and clothes were in the duffle and it seems to be ok with my trainer. We'll work out storage but keep in mind storage depends on the truck you get assigned to and you might have to share sleeping space with some of your stuff when both of you are in the rack.

Otherwise, one will be asleep some of the time the other is driving so the upper bunk can be used.

The carry on type bag would be a good "shower" bag. That way you arent lugging your big bag back and forth from the truck to the truck stop.

I looked like a bum carrying my stuff in plastic shopping bags when I went to the shower the first couple weeks.

That's a good idea. Never really thought about that. I did remember the flip flops though!

For the most part, you will have your stuff on the top bunk, and a duffell fits nicely at the foot of the bed with enough room for you to sleep. (I a 6'1") As far as room for food and stuff it depends on the trainer. I would recommend ramen cups of soup and chef Boyardee microwave stuff (most truckstops will let you get hot water and most trainers have a microwave) You are going to want to figure out what kind of portable food you can handle and will eat because the truckstops will drain you dry quickly. If you are talking to instructors/trainers, talk about food, cooking on the truck, storage, and cooler space.
Shower bag is definitely a good idea. kinda hides your newbie status, unless you show it in the parking lot :biggrin_25516:

I figured it would be a good idea to talk to my trainer about food on the truck. Theres no way I could buy out everyday. Thanks for the info.

That's kinda what I was hoping for, I didn't want to be an Inconvience to him though. Do you usually shop once a week? Or do you try not to stop to shop that often?

Once a week at least... as time and location allow. The driving comes first.
