As I understand it Macro 15 is still the shortest most direct legal route.
Macro 27 will avoid some tolls adding miles, and some times send you an extra 10-15 miles for some cheaper fuel.

Well, not that I've been company recently - but...
Company drivers are supposed to follow the fuel route on macro 27 to the letter. However, it depends on your FM... I had an agreement with my company-side FM that I could deviate from macro 27 when appropriate for short periods. I'd get his approval for anything like 100 miles or - and he'd never turn me down.
You'd better be ###### sure about what a GPS is routing you on, because more than one driver has been in an accident because of the routing he got from it. I can recall at least one flatbedder in a roll over on a road that wasn't STAA approved, and then there was the guy that didn't quite make it across the flooded out bridge recently. Its also lead to a number of topped trailers - when are they going to learn that 12'-7" just doesn't work for a 13'-4" trailer? -

I've never seen one till I came to Prime. First week here our shuttle driver took us out into the country for some reason and we crossed a creek with one of those flow bridges.
As for Macro 27, company drivers are supposed to follow them unless restrictions, marked detours or approval from your fleet manager.
They really aren't going to know unless you go where trucks can't go and you get a ticket... Or you blow off the routing around the toll road , take the toll road, and someone catches the toll charge... Then you could possibly be hit with the toll bill.
Another problem they were really hard on a year or two ago was blowing off your fuel stop and calling the fuel desk to open a different station do a driver could take another route.
I like IP have an arrangement with my FM. I've got blanket judgement on weather condition route changes. Also there are a couple routes I can just plain avoid and he'll eat the toll.
Some of you smarter individuals probably already know how to get the computer to route you the way you really want to go. -
Hmmm, I follow 27 to the letter, but I also know what your getting at U2. I always compare the 27 routing to my Rand mcnally before starting out, and a lot I'd times I end up training my GPS the correct way to go. I have gone off route a few times, but that was mainly because I was unfamiliar with the roads and missed my turn. Nice thing about 27 is it gives you routing from whatever location your at. Unfortunately for us company guys we can only request a 27 every 11 or is it 12 hours?
silenteagle Thanks this.
