Cautionary tale just experienced in KY and Macro 15. Going to Albany KY and macro15 told me to take US127S from Sam Nunn Pkwy. Needless to say, this is a width restricted route according to my RM GPS. Not noted in the atlas, but not hilighted either. After a discussion with citations dept, I routed out of Albany KY 45 miles EAST to head west, adding 70 miles to my 620 mile trip totalling 690 miles. Had to take a 10hr before making it here. Another driver took an illegal route so he could make it in one day.

You'll note the "weasel words" placed at the beginning of macro 15 messages sent to you. Have you run the macro 15 or 27 route from Zanesville OH to Wellston OH yet? It's an STAA route, barely wide enough for 2 cars let alone a semi in places, sharp curves, poorly marked roadway. I have my own routing for that one.

It goes back to using your experience, common sense, the canned instructions, your GPS, AND a map.

Hmm, sometimes I follow it, sometimes I don't. Never been told I had to follow it as long as I get there in time, on time. In fact FM asked me a couple of days ago why I was following a specific route, down US30 in Ohio, instead of taking the turnpike. I told him because it came from the Macro 27, He just laughed and said he would have taken the turnpike. lol
Best to get with your FM if you are a company driver though and get a clarification, just to be sure.

Or you can be like me, do stuff and then beg forgiveness later lol :biggrin_25523:

Yeah, well... there are perfectly good alternatives like US30, which is limited at the speed I run anyway. That's $35 one end to the other, or a 14.8-cpm hit I take to run the toll road. No thanks, unless I really need to do 65 mph.

Yep, Totally agree. I don't often run the turnpike, I do like to take the routes that the 27 sends me on, but I check that sucker each and every time against maps. Just a couple of days ago it tried to send me down a road that the map did not show as a truck rte. I also check the map to make sure it is sending the fastest rte, not the shortest. Sometimes shortest does not mean fastest. Take US202 in PA for example, may be the shortest, but it is all stop and go.

do you have to wear a certain boot while working?
    if so
does it have to be a steel toe.
    or
    are tennis shoes allowed?

Yup, sneakers are allowed - unless you plan on dropping something heavy on your foot. Then you might need those steel-toed jobs!

I keep a pair of steel-toed boots on the truck in case they are required at a warehouse where I need to be on the dock. I've seen it posted at some places, just haven't needed to be on the dock at any of those places... yet.
