Nice of you to offer assistance.
I am waiting for Prime to check my employment history and currently have my CDL A learners permit, air brake, hazmat, tanker, combo, passenger endorsements and a TWIC card.
Drove briefly a rig prior to CDL>>I'm 63 going on 40 by the way. How did it take to have your previous employment checked out in order to go to MO ?? Lane from Prime told me he could get be out to MO on the 17th July so I would think the verification portion should be quite simple.
Live in Kennett Square, PA and looking to team up with another person for the NE Reefer Div. as well....Leasing would not make sense unless I could have a partner and we both could have confidence in each other to drive safely while the other is in the rack....
bartage...all the best to you and look forward in running-in to you sometime (Oops). Give me a couple of tips that is meaningful to you when you have a chance.
    All the best,
    Bill

Hey guys, orientation is going great I should have my badge tomorrow and also found out who my trainer and fm are. All in all I'm happy with my decision to go with Prime as one first choice.

NE Regional is a company solo-driver thing.

If that's your only snag than you are doing great. At first I wanted to to flatbed then I thought about being in the rain, sleet, snow, 100 degree weather like today to tarp and untarp and the tarp pay just wasn't worth it to me. So I decided reefer. Also people need food all year long. Some companies may not need building supplies all year long. Good luck on your decision.

but on the other hand your in Ca loading produce and have too stand inside a 32 degree or colder , counting box's as they go on trailer, make sure you pack your winter gear for this, my day was like 11 hour's long , loading on one trailer, i load out San Diego produce, run all the way up the middle, load part 2 , then run run up north load out of a muddy field , part 3 , then San Francisco too get my final load and be in ct two day latter with the load , yes them were the fun day's for sure. but i wouldn't trade it for nothen , it was fun too try too make those runs with 22 hours on the clock, legal like.

Every division has downtime where youre waiting on a customer. From MY EXPERIENCE, flatbed sits less. Ive had 4 drops in 2 days. Longest one took 20 minutes to unload. Granted, all they had to do was drive um off the trailer. As a general rule in MY EXPERIENCE, the bigger the customer, the longer the wait. Flatbed goes to more mom n pop places than reefer does. We also go to jobsites, most of which suck. Most flatbed loads are not time sensitive. Our freight doesnt spoil lol

but a van trailer goes too job site, i brought a whole trailer box full of florescent light, and all kinds of light bulbs for this new school, back right into a mud hole , tandem tires in the mud , what a mess, but i got back up too the double doors , it wasnt a pretty sight as my trailer slide all around as back thru the deep mud but i got back up too the doors.

I got to deliver to an Air Force hanger. Load of produce. The look on their face wasn't pretty when they realized I didn't have a lift gate. Took em a while to find a loadmaster with a forklift and a hand truck in another hanger.

    Thanks for that ORD
I'm going to go with reefer.

Another driver in another thread put it well.
He said #1 CON of reefer was long wait times at shipper/receivers
and #1 PRO was long wait times at shippers/receivers...lol

I see what he means. It wouldn't devastate me if I had to wait a very long time. I would just use the time to trip plan, play guitar, read, surf the web, or whatever.

I also like the idea of getting plenty of opportunity to back up my truck in challenging situations with reefer. I want to get really good at that.
