i am a new higher that came in with cdl class a but no drive time on a only b so i was processed like psd but when it came to medical the ones that got waived had permits and i had cdl so it was considered non compliant... so i am on my own to come up with the machines because you are not considered employee till after you get out of training faze one where most students get their cdl and become associate when gap insurance kicks in then it would be covered ...so that is how that one worked...if some one was looking to give me possibly ride i could meet them in Colorado, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico (with northern NM being my home state) or maybe even Utah with little problem as i live by the four corners area right along the border of colo. texas is a bit far but i would gladly do it as i am very interested in getting back and getting on the road

Unfortunately things are not as simple for guys who come to Prime who have been previously diagnosed and being treated for sleep apnea before coming to Prime. They are under treatment by their own doctor.
Prime has certain requirements for cpap equipment and they must be able to periodically monitor your usage if you already have a machine.
Current standard is at least 4 hours continuous use in each 24 hour day. Of those days that make up the periodical check you have to be compliant 70% of those days.
They do require a baseline of 7 days to check for problems and proper settings. However under the sleep pointe system they do it remotely by cell phone signal. I just got a new machine and it currently has a cell module attached to it with an attenne. Do I'm being monitored everyday until I return to have the cell module removed and then I'm monitored by the ecard reader. This prevented me from sitting in the hotel for 7 days before clearing me to drive.
Now sleep pointe doesn't prevent you from driving for non compliance, they just report it to safety and it is the safety department that will disqualify you as a Prime driver. I believe they give you one chance by bringing you in parking you for 7 days and you have to be monitored by sleep pointe and 7 nights of compliance of in house monitoring before you can return to the road.
Same for any claim of equipment malfunction. There is a lot of data on that card so you better not get caught in a lie.
BTW you can't just turn on the machine and let it blow without wearing the mask. Again there is a lot of data on that card. Pressures, breathing cycles, differential pressure between supply and exhale etc etc.
Currently there is no DOT reg for sleep apnea. However Prime has set a standard for physical requirement for condition of employment. Every one is screened at the employment physical, BMI is the main trigger for a sleep tes order. Skinny guys get a pass unless the manage to honestly report snoring problems on the questionarre or they exhibit a fatty tissue/constrictive air way under exam. You can choose not to work at Prime by either turning down the test or if you come with your own machine and not make necessary arrangements to have cpap equipment that can be monitored.
Remember DOT sets mininmum standards, carriers are allowed to set a higher bar as long as the requirements are evenly applied to all applicants. -
i understand...that is why i went out and bought... up to date cpap machine and also acquired blank modome for them to program as well as oxygen condenser and all the hoses and masks... ruffly about 3000.00 or so... in equipment ...i am not asking for special consideration... only the acknowledgement of the effort in the form of a job... with a company that i would like to work for...oh and maybe a ride back lol..
