I was at a Friday meeting where a fleet manager was given an award for his support of the Guard. One of his drivers nominated him and was there to tell how his FM has always got him where he needed to be. He mentioned there were some close calls and they were each caused by circumstances out of the control of both the driver and FM.

So I think the answer is yes. They support the Reserves.

Thanks for the info Chuck. It is good to know that I will be supported that way. I was wondering how it would work during the training phase too. I am planning on getting off active status and going right to the Guard.

You just have to arrange any duty absences with your trainer and FM. That being said, it would be better if you could work it out to not have any long breaks during training.

    snowman1 Thanks this.

Does anybody know what the cutoff is for CDL holders with "non-recent" experience to get hired? I have been off the road since 4/10, and have been looking at getting back on the road with Prime. But as somebody else said, it'll be a cold day before I surrender my CDL (with all endorsements) to start over. Thanks!

Call recruiting. If you have the cash you may need to take a refresher course.

Im pretty sure you've been off the road for too long and the will require a refresher course.

Dont take anyone's word around here. Call a recruiter for the final word. Hit them with the hard question about CDL surrender if they try and tell you they can get you hired with re-training.

4/10 is about the same time I quit swift, with a year experience. Prime didn't have any problem hiring me this summer. I did have to go out with a baby sitter, for 30k miles.

Talked to the recruiter today, that's exactly what they told me. She said they would do an evaluation on my skills and then would have me go out with a trailer for a few weeks. I can deal with that.
