What about work history? I was laid off from 9/09 till 3/12. been working at the same employer since 3/12 till present..When I talked to a recruiter sounded like this was a problem..

It usually is. They like to see a steady work history with minimal breaks in employment. Part of it is that's easier to explain to DOT if they happen to pick your file during a compliance review. Part of it is that it doesn't speak well of your self-motivation to be unemployed for 30 months... yeah, jobs have been hard to find, but this is a career that requires you be motivated to get things done. There's no one around to get you moving except yourself in trucking.

I'm sorry I should of mentioned I am just getting into trucking now. I been working as an electrician for the past ten years, and am sick of being laid off. Never quit or got fired just got let go due to no work...

Yup, every time the bidness cycle burps, there goes the J.O.B. Trucking has been very good to me in that respect. Be proactive with your recruiter- call 'em back if they don't get back to you. Make sure they understand your employment situation, emphasize that its a lack of work problem not your desire to avoid working! Good luck!

    Mattchu Thanks this.

Is Prime using PSP in its decision to hire experienced drivers? If so, is there a hard limit on the number of 'points' one can have in each BASIC before one is disqualified from employment with Prime?

Hello everyone. I personally want to thank the members here for providing what I believe to be solid and reliable information. It has helped me considerably in making several decisions related to my future career goals.

I hope this is OK to post here for my first post but I want to work for PRIME and thought it would be good to come here first. I have spoken with recruiter Silvia and we are gunning for the 8th of January 2013 to begin orientation in Missouri. I have just begun studying for my CDL permit. Should I try to test and earn any other endorsements or riders in addition to the CDL learners permit from Indiana prior to attending orientation. I've read that IronPony and others highly recommend getting the "hard" permit mailed to me before going to Missouri to have this part out of the way. My goal will be to have the test taken and finished to allow plenty of time for the mail to get here. I still have to find out if what the state sends me will be OK with PRIME. I don't want to have to take it twice if this can be avoided.

I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds by asking, but what happened to U2? I've read alot of his posts and it looks like he may have retired.

You'll be fine with an Indiana permit - it gives you a step up on everyone who is sweating out the permit test in Springfield. It's a do or die proposition once you get here, and you've got three days to get it done. Don't worry about endorsements... you can take the hazmat test when you transfer your Missouri CDL back to Indiana; that one in particular doesn't transfer from state to state.

U2 is still driving for us as far as I know. He got out of bounds in his posting here, and was banned from TTR.
