Well, my mind is made up. Prime it is (if they'll have me). I will do the company driver side for a year and then decide if I want to move to the L/O side. Hopefully, I will get an instructor/trainer who is a L/O and knows how to maximize his earnings. Maybe I'll have enough time to take a few notes on that although I will concentrate on regaining my skills. (It's been awhile since I drove OTR.) My current position is being eliminated after 31-Dec and then I will go pick up my wife and bring her to the US. I will try to get things set up so I can start orientation the first week in February. Question I have not found on any other thread... I know Prime has a passenger program but do you need to drive with them X amount of time before they will authorize this? Also, does anyone know the restrictions and fees (rider insurance, etc)?

As far as leasing is concerned it's mostly a matter of cost containment, and keeping your left door shut. Having a good FM helps as well, and being at Prime long enough to get your driver rating to a point that you're eligible for the better loads. Read this...

So it sounds like once my training is complete, all I need to do is submit the required documentation and she get get oin the truck right away. That will make her happy. She is not from the US and she is going to be experiencing e nough of a culture shock as it is anyway. I don't want to leave her alone much longer then it takes to complete all my training. I read that thread once and the L/O side is something I will most definitely consider if my wife or son in law wants to learn to drive. The first year I will just stay on as a company driver (I think you suggest this your leasing thread) and learn how Prime operates and get a good basic knowledge of their customer base. Thanks for the info IP.

You have cash advances allowed once you are with a trainer. The amount is tied to the load and depends on how long the miles are. Basically it's a percentage of what you will be paid for that particular load on your next check.
Any amount over that has to be negotiated with your dispatcher. I wouldn't expect much of or any amount over what is already available. -
Maybe il see you here just got my med card issue sorted out Friday just too late to get through personnel before they went home for the weekend. Supposed to get my ID Monday and head out with my trainer Tuesday. This a great place. I have yet to meet anyone that isn't friendly and willing to help you out if you need. From my limited experience if you end up here you count yourself as one of the lucky ones.
