To answer my own question, I applied today, talked to a recruiter, and now am considering when I want to go in for orientation. Apparently they're pretty fast.

Anyone based out of Salt Lake City? As I posted earlier, I'm currently in the south east, approved to go to prime for orientation as a student (just need to set a date). If all goes well with the school, I'd like to relocate to near SLC, maybe wyoming. Is that a possibility?

Sure, that'll work. It really doesn't matter where you're dispatched out of because when we're mty we just go to where the next load is at. There is a western-regional company division that's based out of SLC that normally keeps their folks out that way. That's the only real reason one would need to be dispatched out of the SLC terminal.

Well I just reapplied to Prime, after learning that apps are only good for 30 days.
I should be getting my class A in abou 2 weeks and graduating from my school on Thanksgiving Day!
I do have to stick around here until Dec. 6th, as I just received jury notification!
Can anyone tell me if the per diam is optional?

    Hello Truckers,

I am based out of Los Angeles, Ca. and would like to work for Prime, inc. in 2014. Does prime hire out of the Southern California region?

I keep calling the recurring office but no one ever answers the phone. So I'm going to fill the application and just send it. How much training do they have you do if you already have license and a little bit of road experience like one trip

    On the company side? No.

    Yup.

The recruiters are usually slammed, so not getting an immediate answer is not unusual. You will have to park on hold, and wait (and wait some more!) if you want to talk to a human. Voice mail is probably the worst option, but going the online route is probably your best. Email is your friend! It's hard to second guess what they'll say, but most likely they'll bring you in as a C-seat, and put you through TnT training... 40,000 miles with a trainer. You're probably looking at 8 to 10 weeks before going solo.

    prime_hollywood and DWNR2 Thank this.

Once you get through TnT and get your own truck, do they give you any options as far as what where you go or what routes you take? Only asking because it seems like a bad idea to send a rookie on a route going down steeper or twistier mountains.
