What's going on? I have a few questions about Prime Inc. My name is Rob and it looks like I'm going to do some orientating on the 19th of this month. I'm exited, but also very sad knowing that I'll be leaving my family behind for large chucks of time. That's going to take some adjustment for sure.

1.) I am curious what the average company driver mile per week number is as well as the average Lease Operator mile per week number. Any idea?

2.) What happens when you unload on a Friday afternoon/evening, Saturday, or Sunday? Do you have to wait until Monday to be dispatched with a new load?

3.) How many times a month are you routed through Springfield, MO, which is where I live, to pick up and drop of trailers and loads? I know about my home time (1 day off for every 7 days on the road), but since the HQ is in Springfield I was thinking I'd be routed through frequently for business unrelated to getting to the house.

I worked for USA Truck 2001-2003 and am looking forward to getting back into a truck. I'm excited about Prime being my future employer. If there is any advice or advisement you can send my way please do. I'm sure I'm going to have a substantial amount of additional questions coming soon.:biggrin_2555:

I averaged around 2800 miles per week on the company side, solo reefer. Lease ops are completely different, and it depends on what kind of business you are running. Miles really have nothing to do with lease-op compensation at Prime, except the more you run, the higher your costs... and the less money you put into your pocket. I average around 2400 per week.

You need to get your PTA into dispatch so you get back into the local dispatch queue... first empty is the first loaded. It depends on where you are... we usually have freight to run but depending on the time of year and where you're at, you may have to wait a bit. I know what you're getting at... no we don't sit over the weekends.

If you want to get back to SPRIMO, all you have to do is request load that you can either deliver or drop at the yard. How often do I get there? As little as possible. Basing yourself out of SPRIMO is a good way to not make a lot of money. There's quite a bit of competition for loads out of there.

You can be. Like all trucking we get paid when the wheels are turning. Sittin' around the yard won't get you paid.

Welcome aboard, and good luck. Read the "Leasing at Prime" thread before you jump, and I'd advise that you run on the company side a good while to get used to how things work around here. All it takes is a trip to the yard, and a pen to get yourself into a lease. Getting back to the company side if you decide you made a mistake is very difficult.

It shouldn't as long as you tell them about it. I had a DUI and they only require it to be at least 5 years old.

So.. I've been trying to contact the recruiter who called me after I applied with no luck. Should I just try and get with another one? Does it matter?

You'll need to camp out on hold until you get a person. Explain who you've been trying to get ahold of and what you need when anyone answers the phone.
