Thats not true at this time. Just ask anyone on the pad. There are quite a few hold overs every week. They are begging non assigned instructors to come in and take students.

This time of year a lot of instructors take a little time for themselves. Not only to free up their schedules to get home for the holidays with no student entanglements.... but some of us do not like the added stress and danger of winter conditions and a student behind the wheel.

If you don't get a trainer right away, you follow their instructions and do exactly what they want you to do.

Most times its being out on the training pad practicing pre trips and waiting for any opportunity to get some practice. Sometimes in winter they will set up a truck in a bay and have you practice the pre trips indoors.

Anything else you have to pay attention and be where they want you to be, when they want you to be... on time. There won't be any hanging out in your room until you are released for they day.

Last time I was around, they still did some sort of roll call in the morning, after lunch and at the end of the day.

Some things to note if you plan to sneak away cause thing are too boring. Lunch is usually and hour, however it isn't always called at the same time everyday so you could miss post lunch roll call. You might get assigned an instructor that day, not even know it, and the instructor gets sent to the pad to find you and you're not there when you should be.

Put it on your app and the recruiter will let you know. 20 years I probably wouldn't sweat much. But just be honest and don't be doing the same #@$¥ still.

As they said, put it on the app, probably wont be a problem. I refused a random drug test in 2009 and I was told since it's more than 4 years old it's not a problem. I feel pretty lucky to even be considered, most companies at this point would tell me to rot in hell.

    Okay, how about this one:

The entire orientation process up to getting assigned a trainer and hitting the road is considered to be a job interview. How do you dress? From what many have said about orientation @ Prime, the entire process is basically a job interview. I've always thought that you should 'dress to impress' for an interview (at 17 years old i put on a tie for an interview with Walmart; If I want something I"ll do whatever I must to get it.) At the minimum I would assume business casual for the first day or two, since I don't think you really do much beyond paperwork, physical/drug screening, computer based learning and simulator training.

Once you get to the point where you're working with actual trucks, is it acceptable to just wear jeans, t-shirt and some boots? Is there any specific dress code at any point (besides the obvious stuff)

That's actually not unheard of. There have been people waiting through the next week waiting on instructors.

Dress for the job you are applying for is the rule of thumb.

Button downs with ties and slacks are impractical to bring on the truck. You can go through orientation with a clean polo and jeans and be just fine.

During the last week, when instructors were scouting students, I identified several I would never have in my truck; some for dress, most for attitude.
