Now... I know I won't have a choice in this matter, and I have no problem with that.. but I feel the need to put it out there anyway, just in case... Universe, I would like a red truck.

    Can't hurt to try, right?

Getting ready to take the plunge. Prime seems like they have a lot to offer. My wife on the other hand is very concerned by reading trucker wife forums that I will never be home. (also that all the recruiters lie)

I'm a mature hard working and quick to learn new things. Driving deliveries for a lumber yard now.

Since TNT takes 4-6 months how often might I expect to get back to Colorado for a visit?

If I come MO training with a Colorado CDL permit and complete the driving test in MO, do I bring some form back to Colorado for the permanent CDL license?

No, You will get your CDL in MO and then within 30 days return to CO and change your CDL over to CO.

IIRC in Colorado it's 60 days... however, you want to do it ASAP. You must bring something that validates your current Colorado address with you when you go to DMV. A bank statement or bill, however, they were happy to take my medical card the last time I renewed my CDL. This is also the time to take the hazmat test... it won't transfer between states, and you have to do it every time you renew your license. Get your hazmat background check going at the SPRIMO terminal as soon as you can after jumping into TnT so it's complete when you transfer your license.

Take it real slow... downshift way past what you'd normally do... it's going to depend on how steep the grade is and the road conditions, but your talking about 5th or 6th... something like that. The Stevens guys teach top gear-percent grade=gear... like on a 7% use 10-7=3rd gear for no jake descents... that might be a bit conservative. No jakes, no cruise, light application of the brakes to control speed... and you really want to stay on top of it so you don't have any heavy braking to slow down. I feel more comfortable with light, continuous application if I need it. Absolutely don't change gears once you've started down.

As with any winter driving, leave a double, extra helping of space between you and the next vehicle in front of you. If someone cuts in, drop back until you get your space back. Having to slow down quickly is what gets tires to break loose and start a jackknife. If you do start to get in trouble, remember the rumble strip... it can provide a little bit of traction when you need it.
