Does Prime pay zipcode to zipcode or actual miles?

    ugh

anyone know/ever heard of someone rescheduling their orientation? I have a feeling i'm going to be mighty sick soon. I go most of 2013 without so much as a sniffle, and now this.. I don't really mind going through orientation sick, i can deal with the pain/whatever.. But i don't want to spread this misery to anyone else, certainly not an instructor.

When you are TNT, you are an employee... You get the same hometime. 1 day for each 7 out on the truck. Minimum 3 weeks between home times.

you might want to try to coordinate with your trainer's time off, however don't let them bully you into running longer than you want beyond that 3 weeks.

push comes to shove you can go right up the chain if your trainer or FM is trying to bamboozle you. Yes, their are some trainers and fleet managers that are using you to make money, so they're not always looking out what's best for you.

btw orientation and PSD don't count. If you just graduated PSD, they want you to run at least two weeks before that first hometime... You go home at 2 weeks after PSD, you've only earned 2 days... You've got no case and no reason to whine... You earn 2 you get 2.

3 gets you 3, 4 gets you 4, 5 gets you 4 and a day you can use on another hometime.

    4 days at home max.

Depends on how long you want to stretch training out. If you're home, you're not building miles to getting into your own truck.

That's pretty much an individual thing... it depends- on you. If you're eating in truck stops all the time, it get's expensive quick, plus many chains feature junk and fast food only. That's a bad diet. I hit Walmarts frequently, and spend maybe $50 a week or so. But I have a fridge in my truck, and cook a lot of my own meals. I try to stay out of the truck stops, however if I can't get into a Walmart for a grub run, I'm spending more. Then there's Big Mac Attacks too! LOL!!

Laundry... truckstop washers and driers generally cost $2.00 or $2.50 a load. They're standard sized machines, so you can't pack 2 weeks of clothes into one machine. It's cheaper at our terminals... 50-cents.

Showers... you get a free shower every time you put a minimum of $50 worth of fuel into your tanks via the truck stop chain rewards cards. Otherwise its getting into the $11 to $13 per shower range if you pay cash or use cash-equivalent points off of a rewards card. You fuel every day or two, so it's not like you are going to be spending money on this. Sometimes you can't take the time for a shower due to schedules... wet wipes are your friend. Another idea is to keep a gallon of water that you fill at the ol' truck stop water spigot and a plastic wash basin in your truck... add a towel and a wash rag, and you're in business.

Other... entertainment, cell phone and mobile internet service, coffee/drinks. You really have to watch your money... it's easy to spend way too much on the road.

Zip code to zip code... also known as household movers miles. Don't get hung up over it. The guys who pay actual miles or hub miles also get bent out of shape if you take an extra 15 feet to get somewhere too. I've talked to drivers on practical/hub miles who have told me that they're regularly docked for running too many miles on a given run. If you run a few extra miles under load at Prime to get to a Walmart, Prime isn't going to give you a hard time.

    Yep, all the time.

Yep, I'm one of those people. I had to put mine on hold at literally the last minute. My wife had a breakdown about two days before I was supposed to leave, and has since been diagnosed bi-polar. My recruiter has been pretty good about the whole thing, and I'm just waiting on her to stabilize a bit more before I make the call again and get out there. Hopefully around the end of the month.

Just a quick question. How big are the normal orientation classes? I'm in SLC right now waiting till tomorrow to start and the front desk at the hotel told me the most they have seen here are about 8! That's nowhere close to what I've seen before at my last company.

Orientation for what seat class? The next two PSD orientation classes have well over a hundred each.

JB... Zach.S is at CHDSLC... they only do C-seat and experienced driver orientations there, so those groups tend to be small.
