For anyone whose curious, it costs like $26/night to upgrade to get a room all by yourself.

You're into politics on this one, and no matter which side of the aisle you happen to land upon I think we can agree there's nothing the President could do that would please conservatives except drop dead. The link below is to a article in USA Today that traces the sources of some of the inflammatory statements made about the security issues surrounding healthcare.gov. I'd hazard an educated guess (being a former technical professional) that many of the issues that did exist at launch including much of the glitchiness have been remedied by this time. My own experience on Colorado's website wasn't all that unsatisfactory, and ultimately I enrolled in a Colorado BCBS plan, albeit a non-subsidy plan.

Got me pal. I don't have the slightest idea on it, although I bet you're correct. Thinking about it, I believe I recall (maybe, kinda) that you're forced into the employers program. I will say this... I left the military in 1979, and have carried my own insurance or an employers policy ever since except for short periods of unemployment. Notwithstanding the changes in healthcare law, I'd say one is a fool if one isn't covered by something. Let's say you're in a serious accident that prevents you from applying for insurance while you're on an operating table with an emergency surgeon trying to keep you from croaking. Guess what? You could end up with a zillion bucks worth of medical bills in a flash, and unless you're independently wealthy or hit the lotto- you're headed for a financial disaster.

...this is one of the most hazardous professions you can get into.

Yes IP but thanks to Obamacare you can sign up after you get sick and be covered. So no real worries about a zillion dollar bill now.

Yep, you can sign up later and your busted noggin' may be a pre-existing condition... but I'll bet you now any fixin' before signin' will be on your ticket. I wouldn't count on being able to sign anything for perhaps weeks after a major accident.

From what I remember in orientation few weeks ago and paperwork I have, for company driver shows 90 days from official employment till health insurance eligible. Figures were a bit less than previous mention, but were up in air until finally figures due to Fed changes.

Thought they said lease/owners would be on own now due to all new regulations & changes, but wasn't paying much attention to that.

    Peace

    Last thought,

I would definately call someone here actually in benefits. Things changing too much, too quick. Websites are notoriously outdated at times. Best to talk in person to those involved for accurate, up to date info. Sure recruiter could provide that #.

    Good luck.

Correct it is 90 days out for drivers. I was told yesterday during orientation that the rates are comparable to the ones online for associates but because the changes for this year it will be best wait for them to contact you after the 90 days.

That's 90 days after you get your CDL, and become an employee.

I'm curious as to why the seeming secrecy over the premium rate. There are certainly existing company drivers on these policies, and I can't imagine that if the other side of the house knows how much the premium is, the driver side doesn't know. I understand that premium rates fluctuate from year to year, but they are also negotiated in advance of the new coverage year as well. Unless drivers are on a sliding scale, then it makes sense.

We're 7 days into the new year... excuse us if most of us don't have the figures right now. New rates started Jan 1.
