Yes you can. You will have to move everything out if your truck at the hotel. Have a company inspection. Prine will then have to turn it around and clean it up, fix stuff and note condition, and then you can lease it for the remaining time left on the lease.

If you can avoid it, you don't want to be dispatched by Pittston as a lease-op. It doesn't matter where you live compared to the terminal location.

So, a couple of comments... understand you're starting a business, and it's about the gross revenue and minimizing expenses. It's not about the miles- the fewer miles you run to generate your revenue, the lower your expenses (fuel) will be, and the more you'll keep in your pocket. Your settlement check is cashflow into your business, not your paycheck. Your paycheck is what you choose to pay yourself.

By leasing a lightweight, you are precluding the ability to team or train, so you'll have to make it as a solo lease-op. You can always trade up at the end of your first lease, and you'll have some extra money at that time because of the end-of-lease bonus and re-lease bonus if you choose to do it again. Speaking of money, having $2,000 to $3,000 in the bank as business seed money is really essential. That's why many fail to finish their first lease... they hit a hard patch with nothing to fall back on.

If you haven't done it already, read the lease thread, and ask questions! Good luck!!

Actually have zero interest in 1 of those light weight trucks. If I am leasing its a Cascadia or peterbilt. Have read all your threads and they are very helpful. Have about 3.000 specifically for startup going to be about 3,500 or so if I do come to prime. Have been running my company truck for 6 months like it was mine and have been deducting on my own to a savings account 0.03cpm as a getting used to it trial. should be more figure 0.06 but I have a good start up cushion and can access about 2,500 more if I needed to. This isn't a quick or not thought through decision. I give up a lot to make this transition and I am still looking at all the pros and cons. I currently work for jb hunt on the dedicated newburgh account. Say what you want about jb hunt but its a steady paycheck and that's all that matters to me. I have been doing a lot of research and continue to look at everything ie: understanding oil samples, warranty information and service intervals, egr and scr info and the complete def system, location of the sensors for the aftertreatment system, figuring out my operating cost and running numbers based on highs and lows. Been driving 10 years so I know how freight moves and when it doesn't. Knowing that its a percentage is good because its about revenue and not miles. Making sure I fuel properly at the lowest cost possible and on the current settlement not the following weeks. Have to get to work. Stay safe out there. another storm is a coming today.

I have been a wannabe for about 5 years now. I got a dwi in March of 2009 and that put a big damper on things until I found Prime last year at about June and they hire people with dwi as long as they are 4 years old and my wife told me to wait until I could go to school which would mean waiting until March of 2014, I was fine with that and I had a job that could tide me over until then, I am as patient as an oyster lol, not really. Well I had a misunderstanding with my supervisor in August of 2013 and was terminated so I went ahead and pulled the trigger and applied at Prime. The recruiter called me quickly and said everything looked good except for my termination and that I would have to have another job for 6 months before they would consider putting me through the program. Besides the dwi and having just one more moth to wait, my biggest question is, I moved around the past 3 years at least 3 times that I remembered and honestly I can't remember the exact dates I was where or exactly what my addresses were except for two of those, are they gonna hold that against me? Also I was in the Army, basic training, but I was injured and wasn't able to complete training and wasnt ever in service for the US Government, I do have my dd214 which has an uncharacterized discharge since I never seen service, will this be an issue? I just want to be completely honest cuz I really want this to happen and don't want to run into any snags and be sent home because I am unqualified or forgertful.

Yep. After you complete that last 10k, he will need a good reason to say no.

If you are asking if you can upgrade before you complete the last 10k, the answer is no. You are required to have 40k (or 30k if you went through the PSD program) before you are eligible to upgrade.

FM and TNT instructor have final say but you have to have 30000 as a minimum that's a baseline I have had student that thought the truck headed to Springfield at 30000 but they weren't ready after 50000 and have had some that were almost ready right out of PSD I've never seen a FM sign off before 30000 though because it looks bad on them if you fail also

Not it always true. Some of us only need 15k because we're learning flatbed or tanker ways. It's all I need. It depends on if your a C, B, or B1 unless your a PSD student.
